My personal shopping hiatus will be until April 1. Of course you can join us Tara T. Trixie has been posting a weekly thread over in the General Chat forum and there is the whole gang of us supporting each other there.
Hi Tara T! Welcome to the club. My personal hiatus is until March 10. Ally S is right - it does get easier after a few weeks, especially once you start to notice all the extra money in your checking account! Good luck! It's nice to know we are all in the same boat

I'm stopping on Feb 10 (ok shoot me...it's the Barney's Warehouse sale and my BF and I do need some things.) and then I will probably resume aftrwards. The only thing I might have to desperately purchase is a pair of jeans, because I threw out my holey Sevens which were my go-to casual jeans since they were unrepairable.
I also have a $50 AE gift card that I might let myself spend during the ban....but I haven't been in a massive urge to shop lately. I made one trip to Loehmanns and that was really it. So long as I don't make detours there, I'm usually fine.
I've been...
giving my closet a good purge...I think I three away about ten pairs of flips and shoes that are no longer in wearable condition. And I started using the lesser worn gems in my closet more.
giving my makeup a good purge. I only kept what I actually would contemplate using. I had been holding on to crappy lipstick samples from middle school (I'm a senior in college now).
trying to organize all the papers and bills that I have.
giving my stuff a general purge. I've accumulated too much tuff over the past couple of years and a lot of it just gathers dust. I'm trying to get rid or enough stuff so that my BF and I can fit all our goods in a 1 BR apartment.
importing a ton of CDs into iTunes (I have around 500...it's not easy)
I'll be selling off a LOT of CDs and DVDs (maybe 100+) and even if I only get a dollar for each one...that's still a hundred bucks and considering I don't listen to all that many of them and that many were gotten for free...I'll still make money.
Purging things and throwing away things is incredibly cathartic!
Lilykind- where are you selling your cds and dvds at? Online? I usually use half.com but not moving much right now and I want to unload my old cds and books!

I'm not sure if this helps, but I'm planning on selling at Rhino Records and Penny Lane (which is a local establishment).
When I was in Boston, I sold to this hole in the wall on Newbury St. and Newbury Comics.
I haven't set a date yet b/c I want to see how long I can hold out. I slipped the first week, but have been really good since. I'm hoping to last until April, but that'll be a HUGE challenge.
i am failing miserably at my shopping ban. it was only supposed to last until february and while under the ban i have purchased true religion jeans; a michael kors trenchcoat; at gap a belt, tee, socks, slippers; at banana an angora ribbon tie cardigan; express a tee and really cute silver top with bronze sequin strip across the bust; random house stuff at ikea; photo albums; new hairdryer; featherbed; some snow-type boots ... there's probably more but i could be blocking it out.
