anyone take them? If so, how do they help?
In Glamour Kate Bosworth says she takes them and that helps with your hair, nails and skin.
Where would you buy them?

Hi! I have taken them before as a supplement for omega fatty acids (omega 3, 6, 9; these are GOOD, healthy fats found mostly in fish). I was a veggie for a few years, and when I started to eat seafood, I started taking these as well. I did notice an improvement in my skin & hair, but the whole day after I took them, it seemed like they made me burp a lot, and the burps tasted REALLY funky (fishy). I switched to flax seed oil after that; I couldn't stand the taste. I think flax does almost the same thing when it comes to supplementing good fats (I think flax only has omega 6 or something like that), it just doesn't have a bad after taste like the fish oil.

My bad, forgot to tell you where to find them! I bought mine at a small local health food store, but I'm sure Wild Oats or World Market would have them. Also check the internet.

I have seen that at grocery stores, Target and pharmacies. I think places that sell vitamins should have them. Fish Oil has Omega-3 in them. I have read that people who take Omega-3 are less likely to get cancer- like Asian people. It is suppose to help with your eye sight and improve nails, skin. hair, infections. My gram has been taken Cod Liver Oil- which is basiclly the same thing for most of her life. She is about 75 and her doctor always tells her she has the body of a 50 year old. I don't really know who much of that is just good genes or the Cod Liver Oil.

I actually went to a naturpath doctor who prescribed fish oil for those same reasons - to improve nails, hair and skin.  To not have the awful fishy burps you need to take it on a full stomach, so it's best to take them at dinner time (if that's your heaviest meal of the day).

I take a fish oil supplement daily and think if I had to reduce all my supplements to one this would be the one I would take. I couldn't get into it here because it would take too long but, to keep it very short:

1. We eat WAY less Omega 3 than humans did in pre-modern times, and this is believed to be unhealthy and possibly a factor in the development of so many 'modern' diseases (cancer, heart disease, diabetes etc.). I've read the ideal Omega 6: Omega 3 ratio in humans is about 2:1, and for modern westerners it is about 50:1. Which is pretty bad!

2. Flax oil is good, but not as good as fish oil - only fish oil has every kind of Omega 3 fatty acid.

3. If you take a fish oil supplement, check the fish it is derived from. I am sure everyone has heard the new mercury warnings for young women and children - make sure to take an oil derived from a small, cold-water fish. I take 1-2 tsp. of Ascenta Nutra Sea daily. Do not take a supplement dervied from mackeral, esp. if you are planning on being pregnant anytime soon.

I'm taking Flax Seed Oil which uses Vegetable Omega-3.  In addition to that, I'm also taking GNC's Women's Hair, Skin & Nails Forumla which contains 2500 mcg Biotin.

Since taking these, my skin has cleared up some.  My pores are less visible & if I get a blemish, it disappears & heals well.

I'd consult a doctor or nutritionist before taking anything to be safe.
