Has anybody ever experienced dry sockets after having their wisdom teeth removed. It has been about 5 days sice I had mine removed, and I am still in pain and it doesn't seem to be getting better. I also keep reading that if you are on birth control your much more likely to get them. I have an appt scheduled tommorow mourning but I would much rather sleep in if it's not that serious. TIA
I had all four wisdom teeth removed at once (under heavy anesthesia of course) and my dry sockets only lasted about 2 days. Of course no two people are alike but I would be concerned. The fact that you still have dry sockets says something about your healing process and you can never be too safe, especially if you're in pain. I would go to my appt and come home and sleep the day away. Good luck, hope you feel better.

damn dry sockets! i had them (and a bad case of them) the medicine that they put in my mouth kept coming out, so i think that's what caused them. i would definitely go back to the dr..i was in so much pain that he needed to give me more percaset--he/she may need to prescribe meds for your pain.
Thanks guys, I went back this mouning and she put the medicine in the holes and so far that has been making me feel great, absolutely no more pain so far. But, i have to go back Mon and Wed. so that's a little bit of a pain. But, I guess in the end it was all for the better.
When I got my wisdom teeth out to stop the whole dry socket thing, my oral surgeon said to soak the medicine pads in brewed tea and it would help...seemed to work...
