LA Salon rec needed!
Permalink Closed

I just called my stylist to make an appointment and she told me she has raised her prices "a little".  I was too embarrassed to ask by how much (I don't know why, but I am always very embarrassed talking to people about money).  The last time I had a cut and highlights it was $310 (without tip!!!)....which I consider way too much....so I am considering finding a new stylist.

Does anyone have a good stylist that would do a cut & highlight at a reasonable price?  Also, I like the kind of highlighting where it is painted directly onto your hair in chunks (not foils).  And.....I would prefer the westside.....

TIA!

hey tara, not much help here, just wanted to say i'm looking for the same... i got my hair cut & highlighted on montana ave by my neighbor a couple years ago & it came to $125 including a supposed discount.  i guess compared to your bill that's nothing but it was a lot to me at the time & i wasn't exactly thrilled w/ the results.  i think it's called salon montana west (it's not really on montana, it's on 7th).  anyways, now that i have short hair i'm looking for someone who can cut it cute & also make me blonder (since the dishwater shade is getting old).

Crystal - we seem to keep having the same problems....I got a recommendation from a coworker for a salon in Westwood, but I don't really like her haircut so I doubt I will try it.  2 years ago I got a cut at "The End" on Main St. in Santa Monica, but it was really really expensive, so I don't think I would go back.

If I find any recs, I will definitely pass them your way!

Try Todd at Juan Juan in BH, he is the best! Only $75 for a haircut and its the best I've ever had-- before him I was paying around $175 for haircuts- never again!

LOL...I live in Westwood and I don't get my hair done at the salons there. Not after the traumatizing experience I had when my BF recommend Oakleys for my thick blanket of hair .

I get my hair done by a girl in Culver City who specializes in Asian hair. I pay $35 for a haircut and blowdry, and she told me that if I wanted to do highlights as well that the whole bill would be about $90 (and that's because I have a really thick head of hair). However, I have no clue whether she paints on the highlights or foils them on as I've never had them done by her before.

I am thinking of branching out though...Mara, does the $75 for Todd @ Juan Juan include a blowdry?

Mara - have you ever had highlights from Todd?  $75 is a great price - I may have to check it out!

Btw, if anyone is non-price sensitive I have a great rec in BH....but as I posted before it is pricey:(  And she will only cut long hair.

When I lived in LA I used to go to Therese when she was still in a barber shop (only chick there....kinda funny!) but now she's at the marina beach hair place. She was wonderful and every time I got my hair colored or highlighted, cut and blown out it was around $95. I think she might have raised her prices a bit since she moved to a nicer place but she really is great! Here's her info. if you're interested:

Therese LeVasseur
Marina Beach Hair
13345 Washington Blvd.
LA 90066
Cell: 310-259-8392
Salon:310-821-9161

She also has a website (amateur) but some good pics: theresestyle.com
