Chicago also...Hotels etc...

My hubby and I are thinking about a little trip to Chicago in July/August for our 5th anniversary.  We are big Cubs fans and are going to try to get Cubs tickets.  Neither of us have ever been to Chicago, so I need to know where we should stay.

Should we try to get a hotel close to Wrigley?  Of course I will want some shopping with a trip to H&M among others.  I have read the suggestions in the other Chicago post.

What do you suggest for first timers?  Is there a good website with suggestions.  I will do some internet research, but want to hear from some of you all too.

Thanks in advance.

Kari

Kari, I live 2 blocks from Wrigley Field, catching a game is a must. Know you can also scalp tickets when you get here if you cannot purchase them online. If you like to party more then watch the game I suggest the bleachers, v fun to hang and catch some sun.

No good hotels in the area though, but a ton only a few train stops away or a cheap cab ride. Cant help too much in hotels but I can try, what is your limit to spend?

Good websites to look at are Metromix.com, chicagoscene, citysearch.

I love Chicago!! Like you, we just decided to visit for a weekend of fun. Of course, we also went to a Cubs game. We bought the tickets online before we got there. Everyone said it was a better way to go so we wouldn't be stressed out searching for tickets when we got there.
We stayed at Hotel 71 which was awesome and really well priced at the time. They were having a stay two nights get a third free so it was great. Check their website for the best prices. It wasn't really close to Wrigley but we walked everwhere or took really reasonably priced cabs.
Also, make sure you make it to the museum. I don't know if you're a museum fan, but the Art Institute was amazing!!
