Emergen"C"
Permalink Closed

The lady who did my facial told me to buy a pack of "Emergen'C'" from the health food store and have it once a day. It is a packet of powdered Vitamin C, 1000 milligrams, you just mix it with 8 oz of water. She said it would make my skin look more radiant . . . we'll see . . . thought I would pass this on for anyone else interested.

I was going to post about this stuff. Not for the skin issue, but this is the only thing that will keep me alive when I'm sick.

I agree about EmergenC being the best when you're sick. I just wanted to throw out a slight caution about getting too much (more than the RDA) on a regular basis. There are some studies showing negative effects of getting too much vitamin C. A google search will reveal a lot more information - I just wanted to bring this up. As far as skin goes, I think there are many moisturizers that contain vitamin c. Here's one:

I LOVE Emergen C - it is yummy. But Lisa is right - it's a very high dose and probably not something you should take everyday, just for caution's sake (I generally don't think ODing on vitamins is a good idea, even if it hasn't been studied extensively for each vitamin).

Yeah I used to work for a Rolfer and was constantly ordering the cranberry energen c for her and her clients, also fish oil capsules and COq10. Anyway, all VERY good stuff.

vitamin C is one vitamin that is ok to "OD" on.  You just pee out any extra vitamin C.  So using Emergen "c" everyday is fine.  Actually super high levels of vitamin C boost your immune system, help with allergies, headaches, etc.

Welllllll...high doses of C have been known to have, um, 'adverse gastrointestinal effects'. Use yer imaginations.

LittleSinner - that's weird - the only supplements I take daily are Co-Q10 and fish oil. And I don't even think I know what rolfing is.

You people sometimes freak me out...I was just going to post something similar!!! Lol!

I take this "Electrolyte Stamina Power Pack" that I get from my supplemets store. I put in my bottle of poland springs when i work out. My trainer suggested it to me and i love it! It's like an energy drink and multivitamin in one w/ out all the extra sugar. ;)

Mia - Thats awesome! Just FYI....Rolfing is a system of body restructuring, deep massage, circulation enhancement and toxin removal. People usually do a series of 8-12 weeks. It is very precise and really pretty amazing. I have seen some great results with many people.
