I'm really tired of it. I guess everyone's family has some sort of drama most of the time. My sisters can't get along for always trying to outdo the other one...the rest of us refer to it as "the fued" it's been going on for years and really upsets my parents.  Sadly I know it will never end...they never got along even as kids because they were so different.

But recently It's been on DH's side. The rest of his family lives out of state and his youngest brother recently graduated, got married, and is having a baby (wow right) and I know DH feels left out. Besides not having endless vacation time, and gas costs would be outragous, driving 9 hours one way with our little one would not be fun. However, we had both arranged to use vacation time over the holiday for the 4th so we could go see them. We've done this several years and really only weren't able to arrange it the last 2 years. Well DH sends his dad an email to let him know we were both able to get time off only to get a response that we are more than welcome to go but they won't be there. They will be out of state traveling but his other brother (who just moved out of our house last month) would be there for us to visit with..... DH was crushed and of course we're not going. I think I'm still going to take the time off because I could use a "vacation" even though I'll probably just end up doing a bunch of housework anyway. I just feel bad for him because he misses them and they (mostly) act like it doesn't even matter. There have been several times they are within a few hours of us for the weekend where we could meet them for lunch or something but they don't bother to tell us until afterward.

Ugh.  That sucks.  I hope you get some kind of a vacation!

Dumb idea alert:

Does his family have decent computers with Skype, webcams, etc.? There really are some terrific options these days for staying in touch. Especially with a new niece/nephew on the way, your husband might really dig being able to see and hear everyone. It isn't the same as being there, but it could be just enough to keep him from feeling bummed or left out.

This is really a great idea. I'll mention it next time I talk to any of them. His parents currently do have a computer...a REALLY slow one. I am still waiting on pics of my baby's first haircut (from January) because it wouldn't burn the pics onto a disk or something. Then my MIL got them burned and couldn't find the disk. I'm starting to think those pics are just gone and it was really dumb of me to not take any on my own camera hmm His brother who is having the baby doesn't have one at all yet that I'm aware of. The other brother who is very tech-y and would be the most likely to participate and/or possibly set it up left his computer when he moved out of our house. I have no idea why he left it since while he was here he had it on constantly (even while he was gone).
