I am having a movie/girls night with my 13-year-old cousin. She wanted to a get a few scary movies to watch. I was wondering what you thought of The Village. I have seen M. Night Shyamalan’s other movies, so I know what to expect. I was just wondering if you thought it was inappropriate. I am not her Mom, so I can bend the rules a little. I just didn't want her to be terrified. Also what other suggestions can you think of? I can only think of really scary movies like The Exorcist and I know that is not appropriate.

I saw it when it came out last summer with my daughter who is now 13.5 yrs old. There was nothing inappropriate in it and it was more of a thriller then actually scary.

I think she was a bit disappointed in it.

I do not think it would be inappropriate.  There isn't any sex or bad language.  It is just a little spooky and there is a tiny bit of violence, but not gore.

i think it'll be fine, but don't get your hopes up...this movie was not very exciting.  despite joaquin phoenix's hotness.

That is what I have been hearing. I am disapointed.

I know i was def. disappointed in the movie. I was expecting it to be totally scary (because that is what all the hype was about...the "scariest movie of the year!") and instead it was just a very different kind of movie. Suspense, and kinda weird. Not scary at all. But I wouldn't say it was a BAD movie, i thought it was creative. It just wasn't at all what i expected it to be.

Maybe I'm weird, but I loved the movie, and thought it was beautifully shot. The colors were gorgeous and Ron Howard's daughter was amazing.

And yes, appropriate for a 13 year-old.
