Your Favorite/Least Favorite Lip Gloss and Why
Permalink Closed

I know this topic has been visited and re-visted.  But, lets do it again.

Please let me know your favorite lip gloss, and why it's your favorite.  Also, please list other lipglosses you have purchased that you don't like, and let me know why.  Thanks.

I am in the market for a new lipgloss; I want to try something new.

I have only tried Estee Lauder, Clinique, Philosophy, and Tarte.

My current fave is Tarte Double Wand in Jhonny & Baby (after Dirty Dancing, so fun!), but they don't last so long and they design of the bottles is flawed, as they both kind of leak gloss (causing a mess and a waste).

I like stila lip glaze (its lip gloss) The applicator is great and the colors are good.

Not really liking lancome juicy tubes - the gloss is very sticky imo.

I don't wear a whole lot of lipgloss, but here's what I've tried:

Not so good:

Lancome Juicy Tubes - a fun product, but it's so sticky!  anytime there was a breeze, my hair would get stuck to my lips - gross!

Good:

Trish McEvoy Lip Gloss - The colors and texture are gorgeous - seamlessly blends into your lips.  The reason it's not my favorite is that it is still somewhat sticky, but nowhere near as bad as the Juicy Tubes.  It lasts pretty long, too.

Lipgloss

Excellent:

Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss - I bought a holiday sampler last year w/ eye shadows and lip colors and one of them was a lip gloss.  It goes on with a brush and looks gorgeous, stays on, and is not sticky at all.  I haven't tried the ones in a tube, but I bet they are good as well.

I love Lancome Juicy Tubes because of the rich, pretty colors. I have one in a plum shade that is so pretty and the shine is amazing.

That being said, I also hate them because they are so sticky.

For all of you with Juicy Tubes experience... does the stickiness help keep the gloss on longer?

I have a Juicy Tube and it's pretty much clear. I rarely wear it because my hair always gets stuck in it! YUCK!

Bought a Becca gloss a while ago in Maraschino. The most beautiful sheer pretty pink/red color.. but the smell and taste were terrible. I returned it.

YSL gloss in #7. Great bright juicy berry color with gold in it. But like all YSL, smell kinda bothered me.. I bare thru it sometimes because the color and staying power are great.

I don't like Estee Lauder cube lip glosses. Got a set for Xmas a year ago. Too much color for my taste and I also didn't really like any of the colors. It's just sitting collecting dust. I will probably throw it away when I move.

I bought a DiorKiss (the kind in the tube) in Lychee Rose. I love the color and smell at first.. but then the smell became overpowering. I rarely wear it now. I should really return more makeup.

I HATE any of those Dessert by Jessica Simpson lipglosses. I have tried them at Sephora and I swear my lips were burning :(

I had a Trish McEvoy gloss that I didn't like the color to, but the consistency was good.

I had a NARS lip gloss but it was more like a stain. Very difficult to control.

I like Fresh lipgloss in Bella. Pretty color but doesn't last more than a second. I never repurchased once I finished it.

I really like LORAC gloss in Tickle, but I find I never take it out. I hate the stupid nail polish bottle and found it leaking one day :( It's my fault but still. It wouldn't of happened if it were a normal bottle.

I like Sue Devitt lip gloss in Fire Island but it didn't last as long as I would like. I didn't rebuy when I finished with it.

I like Bobbi Brown glosses in Rose Sugar and Brown-7. They last a long time. Great for work and day time.

I also like CG Wetslicks in Sugar Maple. Great color! Great deal!

I resisted Stila Lip Glaze for years, but I have to say I do love them. You definitely need to apply a balm or something before putting them on though. Now I have Banana, Vanilla, Grapefruit, and Brown Sugar. I got most of them free with this makeover I won.

Also in the makeover, I got Prescriptives Orbit. It's a shimmery white-ish gold-ish gloss that I add on top of whatever I'm wearing to add a little extra when I go out. I really like the consistency of this (very similar to the Armani glosses which are now my new favorites).

I also like MAC Viva Glam lip gloss. It last a long time and has lovely gold shimmer in it. I also had Pink Poodle once. It was a very cute color.

I have a CHANEL Glossimer, a mini one I got from MUA. It's clear so I can't really say much about the color, but I do see why people like them. I remember when CHANEL lip products had that horrible smell attached with them... luckily this product doesn't have that.

My all time favorite party glosses are Versace Lights on Lips! They made this outrageous fushia color years ago that I've been obsessed with! It had the most amazing pink, blue, purple, and gold shimmer. Very fun for nights out! I save it for special occasions.

I love Giorgio Armani glosses! I got a set of three for Xmas (I would NEVER spend $75 on a lip gloss set for myself) but they are excellent. I adore the consistency and the have a great amount of pigment.

Whoa I feel like that's alot of lip gloss experience!

ok i have:

lancome juicy tubes--love, surprisingly don't have a stickiness issue.  long lasting, great shine.  favorite color is beach plum.

chanel glossimer--love, long lasting, rich feeling, beautiful colors.  favorite is eclipse and force.

chanel lip palate--red w/ the three circles of gold, purple and pink in it.  hard to explain but absolutely adorable.  love but wouldn't consider a gloss.  so cute though.

stila lip glaze--great but overpriced for the amount you get, imo.  favorite is glaze and blackberry.

mac lipglass--this is the one i have a stickiness issue w/, but i love the color greed.

mac lip balm that comes in a little pot--love, doesn't stick and feels like butter on, but not much color.  like it in plum.

philosophy lip kiss me lip tint--in red, put this on then add a little cherry chapstick and you'll have the most natural looking rosy lips.

philosophy lip balm--yummy and tasty!  also looks great as a compliment to above.  it's called kiss me too i think.

bobbi brown little lip glosses--adorable, got a set for xmas, feels great on and tasted kinda minty, think i like the color punch best.

laura mercier--great but only have it in a light pink color that's cute but not my fave.

hth!

Favorite:  Armani Lip Shimmer & Shine Lip Gloss--lovely, non-gooey texture.

Least Favorite:  MAC Lip Glass--nice color selection, but way too sticky & gooey for me.

Fave:  Trish McEvoy--love love love, not sticky for me at all.  The colors are great, it feels great on, and wearing this gloss brightens my complexion.

Also a fave:  MAC lip conditioner in petting pink.  Great for work (I run around a lot), conditions and gives me shine and sheer color.

least fave:  MAC, even though I'll still wear it because I like the way it looks on, the stickiness really bothers me.

Like:  I just bought a hard candy gloss and I really like the way it looks on, though the sweet scent/taste is a little too sweet.

Okay-

I USED to use the Chanel Glossimers but when they upped the price by like $5-$6 I stopped.

Right now I am using the Flirt line at Kohl's...it's surprisingly really good. I have the squeeze me tubes in mulberry marvel and juicy sweet. Both very pretty colors, nice pigment, not too sticky, slight fruit smell but not too much. Also use their Plushious lipgloss (billed as a liquid lipstick - but really is more of a gloss) in Nude Kiss...LOVE LOVE LOVE this color. THE most beautiful nude when applied alone and sooo gorgeous over lipstick/lip pencil. I swear I am obsessed with this stuff!

BAD: I've tried almost everything at Sephora (pretty much all the stuff others have already mentioned) and they are either too sticky, too shiny so that it looks like a grease factory exploded on my  mouth, or tastes/smells like the sweetest most headache inducing candy. UGH!

My favorite gloss is Stila lip glaze in fruit punch. It instantly brightens my face when I put it on. plum is a great natural mauve color I like to wear over lipstick too. Lip glazes are rather sticky, which I don't mind because they stay put for a while.

I also have Stila lip polish, which has more of a creamy consistency than the lip glaze, so it's semi sheer and more like lipstick+gloss. Mine has a slightly weird smell, but I got used to it after a while. It doesn't last as long as lip glaze since it's not very sticky.

I also like DVF Beauty lip gloss. It's a dual ended gloss so you get 2 colors in one tube, but it's a bit pricy at $18. It's not sticky, and there's no nasty smell.

Neutrogena makes good glosses too, but the only thing I don't like is that they don't last very long on me.

My absolute favorite is Tony and Tina lipgloss in Prophetess.  I also have some Stila lip glaze in Creme Bouquet that I like a lot, but it is a limited edition one so I use it sparingly.  I have also used Mac lipglass in Chai in the past and I was a pretty big fan.

I do not really care for the Juicy Tubes.  They are so sticky, walking around outside my hair gets caught in it and once a bug stuck to it - gerrrosssss!

Oh I also hate the taste of juicy tubes. I have grape escape (really pretty purple) but if I accidently lick my lips or something like that I get that taste all in my mouth and can't get rid of it.

I have stila lip glaze in grapefruit and love it (as said before) and wanted fruit punch but accidently bought raspberry (way too hot pink/hot red).

I'm sorry Farrah, but you made me laugh so hard with that comment!

I guess I will be staying away from the Juicy Tubes.  From what it seems like lipgloss shopping is as individual as the person!  I guess I will just have to keep testing until I find the perfect shade. I am heading out to a little boutique now, so I will see what they have and just try something new.

Ones I like...

Valerie Beverly Hills Lip Shine: It's a bit pricey at $18, but I find the colors to be well-pigmented and this is not sticky. Plus it smells like sweet frosting and I am a total sucker for sweet smelling lipglosses. It also lasts a really long time so you can get a lot of uses out of this one.

MAC Lustreglass: They're not as sticky as the Lipglasses (which I'm eh on because of the high stickiness factor) and they have a cool sheen to them as well. My big beef with them is that I can buy one and with the amount I use it, it literally lasts only a month...also, these are also among the shiniest lipglosses known to man, so it's probably a bit of an acquired taste.

Smashbox Lipgloss: I like how some of the colors are shimmer and some are more matte. The texture is good, never goopy, and the darker, more pigmented colors are a real treat. I LIVE for Smashing Idol for a more edgy rocker look (it's a deep red with multicolored shimmer, ignore what Sephora says about "caramel"...), even though it's getting harder to find now...

ULTA Lip Glosses: These are near-dead ringers for the VBH except they're in smaller tubes. But loads cheaper and for the price, the pigments are good, it stays on for long enough, and it's cheap enough so you can experiment.

my current works everywhere and with everything lip look is MAC lipliner in Spice, the VBH in Peek-a-boo, and then MAC Lustreglass in Spring Bean

Ones I don't like...

I concur with almost everyone on the Lancome Juicy Tubes. It was a super-cute idea and I the packaging and colors...but then all of a sudden my lips became a magnet for all things bad like hair and dust.

I'm dying to try Lola's Lip Glosses when I'm not on the shopping ban anymore. I tried this on at Sephora and loved the colors and the consistency. It also seems to be pretty well reviewed on MUA.
