I had my first (phone) interview for the job that I posted about last Friday. It went really well and the girl told me that she needed to coordinate with the other people that would need to speak to me so that when she brings me in I only have to make one trip up there. Although, this is really great for me and very courteous of them, I am getting impatient waiting for her to call me back. She didn't say that I had a second interview for sure, but from everything that she said she might as well have. Also, being in HR I know that you never tell anyone about the next step unless you are planning on taking it with them because that could cause a lot of problems. She told me that I would hear back from her this week even if she didn't have any news from me just to touch base and let me know how the process is moving.
I was wondering if I should tell her that I have some interviews scheduled (even though I don't) to see if she will move it along. I know that when you are interested in a candidate the last thing you want to do is lose them because you drug your feet. What do you ladies think?
BTW - thanks for all of your advice in the previous post. I am really excited about the job and if they offer it to me I will definitely take it!
***UPDATE***Well, I got an email this morning telling me that two internal candidates came forward for the positions (there are 2 of them) and their policy is to interview them first. She said that she will keep me posted about the status. I am kind of bummed because I was pretty excited about this job. Of course, if is possible that one or both of them are not qualified for the job or the manager may not want to hire them. I am actually praying for that to happen so that I can at least get an interview. Please send some good vibes my way ladies that at least one of these other people will not work out!!

I would follow up with her tomorrow, and just say "Hi, it's Farrah. Just wanted to follow up with you regarding the position, because I'm very excited about it." and take it from there.
Unfortunately in my experience, I have had nothing but slow moving HR people who I have to stalk in order to get an answer!

I think you should definitely follow up with her. It will show how interested you are. Just be friendly and sound really interested in the job. Maybe even ask a few more questions. I don't know about saying you have other interviews. That may sound pushy.
In your post, you say HR people don't mention the next step unless they want to take the next step. In my experience, they do this all the time. I have been on interviews where they give exact plans for the next step and never call me to come in again.
wow, that was the exact situation i was in when looking for my current job. get this, they call me to set up a first interview, i'm like cool, the first interview goes great, at the end of it they're like do you have time to meet the other people in the office? i'm like sorry, i don't (i'd had another interview across town that i had to make it to but i didn't tell them that), she's like ok, we'll call you to set up a time to come back i'm like sounds great. had totally decided they were my first choice. totally thinking they're gonna call me back. this is in like late february i think. go on a ton more interviews, one's getting ready to offer me a posn. i'm like sh*t! what about my first choice, it's not even like i'm waiting for them to make up their mind, i'm still waiting for the second interview! so i called and basically told them the situation, that i really liked them, they were my first choice but i could tell one of the other places was going to give me an offer and i couldn't wait forever for them to call me back (of course i said it in a much nicer way) so finally they call me back, the second interview's on a monday (in like late march/early april, can you believe it? my first interview was in february!) and by friday they offered me the job because they knew i had to make a decision (and then sent flowers on monday...aww). ok, so sorry for the saga but the point of all this is employers often drag their heels just because they think they can but light a fire under them and watch how quick they move. so my advice is to definitely say you have other interviews but do it in a way that makes them aware that really you want them, not the others, hopefully, they will move on it. but i'd wait a day or two before doing this since it's only tuesday after all. good luck!
