Hmm I'm not sure what protein bonded means but I have Great Lengths. They're the ones put in piece by piece and bonded to my hair. So maybe that's protein bonded. I personally love them. I'd heard from alot of people that it will damage my hair and when they take them out they'll rip a lot of my hair out with it. I've had them taken out and redone 4 times now with no problem what so ever. I take really good care of them though. I use Bumble and Bumble seawead shampoo and only condition below the bonds. I brush them with a boars brush every day, lightly and make sure I separate them so they don't become tangled. If you don't care for them they will mess up your hair. But if you care for them properly you'll have no problems. If you have an specific questions let me know!

Yeah, Collette, I am getting the ones that are individually bonded to my hair. I guess it's called "protein" bonded because the insides of the clamps have a keratin in them.
I'm glad to hear they haven't damaged your hair. That's pretty much what I've heard from other people. The woman putting them in my hair said to take them out every 6 months and give your hair a break for a month or so before re-applying. Is that what you've done?
How long is your natural hair? I'm slightly worried about the blending of my hair with the extensions..both for length and texture.
I haven't given my hair a break at all I usually have them taken out and then put right back in the same day. When I first had them done my hair was shoulder length and the extensions I have are mid way down my back. I have no issue with blending in the texture. When I let my hair air dry the extensions get these beautiful waves and my hair just sort of frizzes so I just swipe a straightener down the or a quick curl and it's fine. When I straighten it you can't see the difference. Ok here's my hair pre extensions, this is the natural length of my hair. Please excuse the face I'm making it's the only pic I could find that really showed my hair length
and this is post extensions
I have him use two different color extensions for a more natural look.

My hair is quite a bit shorter than yours, so I hope they will look as good on me. The extensions the woman is buying me are a mixture of colors..so I hope that will blend well with my hair. Ack! I'm excited!
Kitty- you are so gonna love them! from my research and my friends that have them the keratin bonded ones are great. here is my 2 cents from what the girl that is doing mine had to say.
i have highlighted hair that is foiled and then a base color put in between. if i chose the reusuable ones, i would have to have them taken out each time i do color. if i chose the others that weren't replaceable, we could color right over them each time. that would be my main question IF you also have all over color on your hair.
I also have had them for a year, and I LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are really really amazing. They look and feel natural. I will say they are alot more believable however on brunetts then blonde's... They seem to blend better with dark hair.
My only advice like colette mentioned above, is take good care of them and have them re-done every 4-6 months.
- Use only sulfate free shampoo's (wont break down the bond) - only use a boar bristle brush - brush them gently every single night before bed.

oooo i am so excited for you!
Hmm..yeah, I have a base color and I highlight over them. I guess I will need to find out.
OMG they took FOREVER to style this morning. I have to curl mine a bit to get them to blend with my short hair...HELL. I hope I get faster. I don't think I'm going to be able to do that every day.
