I'm using clinique right now and it is ok not great. I want something better but not more than $30 range. It has to be oil free. I checked out the lorac one at sephora but it was very watery and didn't cover anything on my face. Didn't even look like I put it on. Lancome is too white for my face even when they do the color ID promo they have going on. Turns me into a ghost :(
Any recs? I'm very pale also.
Plus: How do you use a foundation brush and how to you put the foundation on the brush? Do you use your hand as a tray or a plate? I'm clueless but am interested in trying it out.
I have been using Laura Mercier since December and couldn't be happier with my now-flalwess complexion. It is a little pricier at $38, but you don't need much (I use one squirt every day).
It is available at Neiman's (and probably elsewhere). I use the sponge from Laura Mercier as it isn't absorbant the way regular make-up sponges are so you won't waist the make up (plus, they are washable and each sponge lasts 3 months - I have had no problems washing mine daily). When I used to use a foundation brush I both put the foundation on the brush or dotted my face then blended and smoothed. Just experiment to find what you like.
If you have access to Sue Devitt Studio, check out her 70% Seaweed Gel Foundation.
It's oil-free & quite nice. I don't use it b/c my coloring is hard to match, but I got a sample of it & used it as a concealer. You can get it through Sephora.com or Beauty.com (go through ebates for a rebate) for $38.
I no longer use a foundation brush & prefer my fingers. When I used to use the brush, I would place foundation on my fingers & dip the brush into it. If the bottle was a non-pump & had an open lip, I'd just dip the brush into it & apply.
try prescriptives--they're foundation is $30 and the brush is $30 as well. you don't have to use that much, just take a q-tip, dip it in the bottle, dot your cheeks, forehead, nose and chin and then blend w/ the brush. hth and good luck!
Skip the brush! Alot of makeup artists use their fingers because the warmth from your hands helps blend the foundation better. And unless you're super duper diligent about washing your brush after every use, it's just a trap for bacteria (especially since it's a brush being used for a *moist* product).
One of my favorite foundations Chantecaille Future Skin Foundation. The best thing about this product is that it's buildable, meaning that you can pat more on certain problem areas. I like to use this instead of concealor for blemishes on the face. It seems to blend into skin better than using foundation and concealor together.
$58 I think they must have raised the prices recently. Last time I bought a jar it was $48 I think... It's oil-free and really really creamy. I ADORE it's consistency. Also the coverage is great. Like I said, it's buildable, so you can add more on if you want more coverage.
I also like the Foundation Stick from this line. I use this when I travel. It seriously glides on.. you would have no idea that it's oil-free. It's so smooth. $42
