What to put in Travel care package?
Permalink Closed

So my bf just started his new job in which he will be traveling 10 days on, and 4 days off. He will be flying everywhere, and will go to all parts of the country. Before he flys for the first time, i want to make him a travel gift basket or something that has some things he would need on the flight or in the hotel. Some ideas i have so far are: advil, aloe vera and sunscreen, airborne, a book, snacks...i am not sure what else one would need...i dont want to put in too much since its a hassel to travel with too much luggage. Any other cute ideas that he would be useful for a guy? thanks!

ah, the lovely world of traveling for work... how i know it well! i travel every week for work and once a month by plane so here's what i would suggest.

travel bag:
sudoko or some sort of game book. i always have one of these handy for those looooooong waits in the airport. does he have an IPod? If so, i recommend getting him a gift card so he can upload some tv shows/movies to watch while flying. also, not sure how much money you want to spend but a pair of Bose noise cancelling earphones would be awesome! i love my travel blanket and eyemask but i doubt a guy would like one of those... oh and ANYTHING that he uses currently and comes in a travel size would be appreciated. i literally have 2 of everything so i don't have to unpack and repack constantly.

have fun! what a nice treat for your bf. i wish my dh would surprise me with something like that some time.

What about a hoodie or a zip-up sweater? It's kind of like the guy equivalent to a pashmina wrap or blanket for the plane.

Does he wear contacts? Maybe a cute contact carrying case if his eyes get dry.

Maybe some ziplock bags for his traveling liquids. Those are things guys don't think about.

Hmmm... a travel alarm clock? It's not really for on the plane but it would be useful. On that note, maybe a travel candle as well. I know that's not a guy thing but some hotel rooms smell funky and he might appreciate it.

Mints for on the plane. I always get icky dry mouth when flying. Chapstick, small lotion, etc. for dry skin.

A picture of you!!!!
I would also put some candy, maybe a couple of gift cards to restaurants you think he might see more often, ditto on the gc so that he can download music or if he doesnt have an ipod or mp3 maybe you could get him one of those ipod shuffles

The first place I thought to look was skymall.com, where I found this jetlag remedy below.  Another item that came to mind was luggage tags, uncommongoods.com has some interesting ones.

No-Jet-Lag

-Some of his favorite magazines
-a calling card
-a nice pair of comfy socks
-crossword puzzle book
-one of those weather alarm clocks that tell you the weather before you go outside
-tea bags
-a card from you for him to open on the plane with a message telling him how much you miss him :)
