Has anyone read Quantum Wellness or A New Earth?

I am intrigued by the books Quantum Wellness and A New Earth.  Has anyone read either one, and if so, what did you think?  I'm thinking about picking them both up this weekend.

Hey D!
I recently purchased a new Acura TL- which had free XM and ended up listening to Eckhart Tolle on the Oprah channel. I was so intrigued by his message, I bought "A New Earth" a few days later. I started reading and ended up getting sidetracked. Now, three months later, your post reminded me that I never went back to the book.

I think I will read it- currently I am in a really busy, stressful time in my life right now and can't think about awakening my life's purpose. Although it talks a lot about Ego and I really need to learn to check that since I have issues with it in my yoga practice also.

Anyhoo- probably a lot more info than you wanted but I did think it was a great concept and I really want to read it- I just am not in the right place for it to really reach me with the message- if that makes sense. so I would definitely check it out if you are up for it.

no, not too much information - it sounds like it piqued your interest like it did mine.  I think I'll pick it up and start reading on it. With books like these I like to read a chapter or two each week and let is sink in during the rest of the week.

it's interesting you bring up the yoga -- I have never liked yoga because I have difficulty "letting go" (best way I can describe it.)

I am slowly getting through A New Earth and I watched three of the webinars on oprah.com.  I am over half way finished and I really like it.  I haven't found it to be "life changing," as some of Oprah's webinar guests claim, but the value of it's purpose is not diminished at all.  I am glad it's supposedly changing lives, nothing but a good thing.

Personally, I have already had interest in the virtue of humility and mindfulness for a while, and like the previous poster, a yoga instructor most recently provided this reminder to me...so while reading this book I felt like it was finally putting into words things I already felt.  It's not easy for me to explain this stuff.  Very very good book so far.  I don't think it's for anyone and they might not "get" it, but I know you will, D.

wow, just by the name I'm interested - thanks for drawing them to my attention D! I'm keenly interested in these subjects. Think I'll get these from the library (or get on the waiting list, more like)
Check out Omnivore's Dilemma too - it's not just about eating, it includes alot about the ecological impact of our dining choices.

I read A New Earth, and a few years ago I read his book, the Power of Now. I found a new earth repeated a lot of the same concepts. but if you never read TPON, this is a good book. I wrote a blog about this book a few months ago on my myspace page.
Although spirituality has always been in my life, I have gotten more and more into it in the past few years. I would describe this book as a good introduction to mindfulness and spirituality, and I like the way he draws from many practices and faiths (maybe because I am not particularly attached to any religion). At the same time it is one of those books I sometimes reach for, read a page or two and all of a sudden I see a current situation from a completely new perspective. I find this really helpful because sometimes I get caught up in situations, and this type of literature helps you become more introspective and conscious of how you are living.
You didn't ask, but if you are exploring this path, I recommend reading some of Ken Wilber's work.

I am not attached to any religion either, but I'm all for learning new ways to perceive the world and finding peace and happiness.  I'll have to go dig up your blog post...

Thanks for the Ken Wilber suggestion - I'll see how I feel about this book and

decide if I want to explore further down this road.

Do you read Dooce at all? She recently mentioned (in her last few posts) Quantum Wellness and how she's planning to incorporate it into her life. She didn't go into a lot of detail but you might find it to be of some interest. The comments on her posts are usually pretty informative as well. You might see a link or a comment that gets into it a bit more...
