pm smash over this subject. She has tried them all. She had an awesome post on FH over this but I didn't save it. I think it caused a rash on her skin so she quit using it. I think someone else said they had problems keeping it on. I don't have any experience with it.
I have tried Othro-tri-cyclene -> made me a complete psycho among other things
Yasmine -> no problems but student health center didn't carry it
Alesse -> not psycho anymore. I am doing much better on the monophasic pills than triphasic.
well, i don't have any PERSONAL experience so maybe i shouldn't post (i'm on genenric ortho-tri myself) but my uncle's ex-wife tried it & it made her a crazy bitch who cried all the time. HTH!
I used the patch briefly. I put it on my rear, it caused a rash with small pimple like things under and around the patch. I hated it, and stopped using at after a month or two.
Haven't tried the patch, but here's what I have tried:
Ortho-Tricyclen - HORRIBLE morning sickness the entire month, crazy bitch
Aviane (generic Allesse) - I really liked this one - monophasic and low hormones
Seasonale - This is what I'm on now - love the 4 periods a year and they are super-light, and also have had no morning sickness. I had some breakthrough bleeding for a week or two during my second cycle, but haven't had any since. The only thing I don't like is the price tag - because it's new many insurance providers don't cover it completely. I have to pay a little more than $100 every 3 months out of pocket.

i like seasonale, too, but am off BC for a while b/c I can't afford it right now! but i'll get back on it soon. seasonale seems to work the best, but i think they all make me a little psycho. or maybe i AM just psycho. who knows.

I talked to my gyno in july about this because I like the idea and she said you can do this with ANY monophasic pill. You just would keep taking it and skip the placebo pills. It comes out about the same price as seasonale but you don't have to buy the entire amount all at once an some insurance companies might pay for it this way if they cover some monophasics and not seasonale. Just FYI

When I asked my doctor, she said no! I need to find a new doc anyway, so I'll try this again. Using Aviane packs back-to-back would be fine with me (and ALOT less expensive - Aviane only costs me $10 a pack w/my insurance)! I guess some docs are just more forward-thinking than others. Do they subscribe it differently than if you were using it and having a period every month? The pharm. won't refill your prescription more than once in 3 and 1/2 weeks if it's prescribed as a monthly dose.

Hmm i'm not sure. My pharmacy lets you get 3 packs at a time. She just prescribes it as normal and when I run out due to skipping periods I just call in to her for a refill and she does it without any problems. I'm not on insurance with it though so it may be different if its an insurance thing.
for me the patch has literally been God's gift to women!! I have had no side effects, it doesn't come off, and I absolutely love it! I don't have a single negative thing to say about it. you can pm me if you want more info. :)
