Mascara - how do you know when its out?
Permalink Closed

Just wondering. How do I know/tell when I hit the bottom of the tube? Does it start to get clumpy or anything? I think mine is just about out. I've had it since September/October and use it almost daily and I've had to start putting on 2 coats instead of one.

Also is there anyway to break the clumps down when they start happening? Like maybe heat the tube up in boiling water or anything? It just seems like such a waste of product when I have to wipe it on a tissue and toss it.

I think the life span of mascara is only suppose to be 3 months and then you're should replace it, so I don't know that I ever reach the end of the tube.

i've always tossed it after 2 or 3 months.  i notice that it's a bit dry & hard to remove from the tubing.  when it gets that way, it's gone.

I've always tossed it after three months too; a lot of bacteria can build up in there, every time you open it and expose the product to air, and then also having it near your eyes too.  It sounds like time for a new mascara.

I tend to use mine up in 6 or 7 months. I don't generally follow when magazines say to toss stuff because makeup just cost way to darn much to toss perfectly good stuff because it "went bad" according to other people's standards.

I would say when it starts to get think and clumpy.  Which is typically around 3 months for me.
