I've already gotten slammed (I live in Iowa). It's been snowing since at least 4pm yesterday afternoon and we already have about 6 inches on the ground so far. We're under winter warning until tomorrow 6pm, with the possiblity of getting up to 15 inches total. I'm not sure what I like better: chipping ice off my car in the morning or wondering if I'm going to make it out of my parking lot in the morning...
I'm off the coast of Massachusetts and it is snowing like crazy!! Big, huge flakes. I love it. It's so cozy and romantic. Make tons of cups of chai tea, watch some movies, read, etc.
I love snow...it so pretty and I just like to stay inside and watch it fall. Plus the houses right by my childhood home are older homes (from the late 19th/early 20th century) and they look like postcards when the snow hits.
I told this to my boyfriend last night as we were recovering from rain in Los Angeles (I swear it's like Noah's flood or something out here, we haven't gotten anything but rain for the past week, except for like three hours of breaks or sunshine...) and we were unloading groceries, shivering my ass off in a Juicy hoodie because it was 45 outside. He laughed and told me I wouldn't survive in cold weather.

I love it too - and I love getting bundled up and going out and walking in it - there is a squeaky kind of crunch when you step in it - then you come back inside, sit by the fire and have hot chocolate - yes, I actually do this - I'm a cornball... oh - and I just found out about a sledding hill I haven't been to - I may break out the sleds Friday night!
I copied the doppler map from weather.com - I just noticed that it's updating in this post - freaky! well - at least I can check the weather and be on stylethread at the same time!

I'm in the Northeast, Central NJ and its been raining for a few days BUT the temps are in the upper 40's lower 50's and have been near the 60's as well. The extended forecast takes us into the 60's again next week.
This weather is unheard of at this time of the year and its not healthy either, everyone around here as the flu or flu like symptoms.
Glad your class was canceled, Detroit! Do you know if southern Ohio is going to be hit? How much snow did you get at Christmas? We had up to 19" in some areas around me (cincinnati). I didn't have a sled to go sledding though :(

I don't know if southern Ohio is getting hit - check weather.com to see if the front is curving down toward you. We had something like 9 inches over xmas - I know Ohio got hit a lot harder than us - we drove on the turnpike to Pittsburgh the day before xmas eve day - an ice storm had just passed through after the snow storm - luckily, it was cleared by the time we got on it - they're really good about keeping the turnpike clear - as they should be - they collect enough in tolls!

Ditto that.
I have seen actual snowfall only a handful of times, and only once that I can actually remember. We did get hail yesterday though, and everyone flipped out.

It was stopped here now, but it has been snowing here in Chicago for the past two days....I like the snow as long as I do not have to drive in it..I love sitting in front of the window with a glass of tea and watching the big flakes fall.... but now is the part I hate, when the sun comes out and it starts to melt the streets are full of dirty, melty sludge, uck
ooh... I was wondering about Chicago - you were in the direct line of the storm too... looks like it's over and we'll have a warm spell coming up (woo hoo! 40 degrees! let's take the tops down on the cars and break out the tank tops and shorts (and you know some will)) ...speaking of wet slushy muck - I had to drive on the freeway today - 25mph - trucks propelling a spew of dirty muck onto my car and windshield - at times blinding me - cars, cars, and more cars smashed, in ditches, getting towed... dontcha just love winter driving?
