After a year with my derm. trying antibiotics, Retin-A, and various other creams he's put me on Accutane (Claravis). I'm a little nervous about the side effects but am ready to commit to it. It's going to keep me out of the sun and off drinking for the summer which kind of sucks but hopefully in the end it will be worth it.
It is a PITA to get on, with the bloodwork and registering online! I may blog about this and I'll share the link if I do. Anyway I'll def keep you girls posted on my progress cause I know a lot of us have considered this.
My DH was on it A LONG time ago, before they really knew about all the side effects. His doctor only put him on it for a really really short time, but it did the trick, it stopped his acne. Good luck!
Wow, so you only use accutane for a while? I was under the impression that you had to keep taking it to keep acne at bay. I'd definitely like to read if you blog about it, I read an article a while back about all the new regulations and it was pretty interesting (although I am glad I don't have to go through that myself)

Usually you take a course for 6 months or so. If that takes care of it, you're done. If not, I believe you take 6 months off and then start another course.
I'd be really interested to hear your updates Halah. I've considered it many times but haven't ever done it because of the possible side effects and now the hassle with the (monthly?) blood tests and such. I'd really like to know what you think of it and how quickly/much you think it's helping you.
