Well I've done it, I've made the appointment. I'm getting my boobs done. I'm ver very nervous about teh whole procedure so if anyone else could or would share their experiences with this I would be most grateful.

I'm about a C cup now, well C on one side and full C on the other, I am getting a Mastopexy, which is a lift and then a small implant to bring me to a fuller D. I'm scared of coming out looking like a stripper though. I'm mostly doing this so they will look fuller and not saggy and drained, too much information I know sorry.

If you can share please do, waht can I expect when it comes to recovery and pain. Iknow what the Dr says but I feel better with first hand accounts. Thanks.

Good for you!  Alot of people posted about getting work done on FH - maybe some of them would be willing to help you out.  I don't have any personal experience with it, but from the research I've done they look more natural if you already have a fair amount of breast tissue.  Having your implants put in behind your pectoral muscles can also helpl, as well as using teardrop shaped implants as opposed to round ones.  Another recommendation would be to go to multiple plastic surgeons for consultations - make sure you look at their portfolio and get some contact numbers for previous patients.  Good luck!

Good for you Collette.  I hope that they are everything that you are hoping for.  I have a couple of friends that had theirs done by a doctor in the Bloomies building.  Where is your doc at?  BTW, I think that sfclinevandy had hers done (sfvc-don't hate me if I am wrong) and she said that she is very pleased and satisfied her hers.  She could probably give you lots of info.  Good luck!

I had mine done 1 1/2 years ago and don't regret it at all and would do it again in a heartbeat.  I told my doc to do my in accordance with my body size and shape so it would look more natural.  She did a fab job.  I went from a 34A to a 34D.  A "D" is not as big as you think.  I am 5'1 and about 125 pounds and a little curvy so this is what worked best for me.  I ended up having 400cc's and they went in under my arm and I now you can't even see my scar.  I feel more like a women now and more sexy since my body is more in proportion.  Not so little girl.  Don't be scard.  The pain after is not that bad.  Trust me it will be all worth it in the end.  Make sure you have someone go with you and stay with you for the first few days.  As far as recovery the first day or so you will hurt a little but nothing unbearable.  Keep the ice pack and pain pills handy.  You sould be able to switch to advil and/or tylenol pm after a few days.  I went back to work 6 days later.  Not to bad.  Also, don't freak out at first b/c you will be swollen and some brusing but it will all get better within a few weeks.  Feel free to ask me any more questions you may have.

If you don't mind Prissy I have a couple of questions.  I am also a 34A and was concerned that I might not have enough breast tissue to conceal the implant.  Was that an issue for you?  Did you have yours put in under or over your pectoral muscles?

I had mine done 2.5 years ago and loved the results. Did it change my life? No. I just fill out clothes nicely now. Before I was a 36B but since I'm tall I could be bigger. I ended up going to a large C or small D. 2 years later, I'm a large D... I haven't gained weight so I honestly think my boobs had mini-growth spurt of their own which is ironic.

The pain was do-able, but I have a very high tolerance for it. I wouldn't expect to do much the week after the procedure. I had mine inserted under the muscle which is much more painful and expensive BUT looks much more natural and has less risk of complications.

I said this quite a few times on FH, but the key to having a successful procedure, healthy recovery, and nice results is to go to a good, board certified plastic surgeon that has hospital privileges. The horrible stories you hear about complications usually come from the $3000 boob job specials performed at doc in a boxes.

I haven't had any complications and love the results... my boobs don't look fake at all and a lot of my friends have no clue. If you have questions, email me or let me know. Farrah's right... I'm happy with the results and have no problem talking about my experience.

Another great resource is this site. The name isn't that positive but the message boards are really informative and there are good before and after pictures of any kind of cosmetic surgery you can imagine.

lmonet, my implants are under my breast muscle. I have had no complications and did not loose any sensitivity.  I have no rippling if that is what you are asking.  sfclinevandy is right that going under the muscle is more painful but it is so worth it and also make sure you go with a board certified plastic surgeon.  Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Okay some more questions - how long is the average life span for implants nowadays?  Will they last indefinitely or do you have to have them removed after 10 or 15 years?  Also, I was thinking that I would wait until after I had children to 1) See if my breasts stay larger after breastfeeding (and be able to fix them if they didn't) 2) Make sure I am able to breastfeed - but is that even an issue if you have your implants put in behind your pectoral muscle?

This sounds crazy but my implants have a life time warranty.  Which means if they leak or somehow become defective they will be replaced.  However, I do have to cover the cost of the surgery center.  I asked my doc this question too and she said it all depends on the person.  She said I can expect them to last at least 15 years and possibly more b/c the implants these days are of much better quality.  She went as far to say I may never need another operation.  It is so important that anyone considering this goes to a top notch doctor.  As far as children and breastfeeding that was a concern of mine as well.  Since my implants are under the muscle I can breastfeed.  I thought the same thing as you about waiting to see how much my breast would grow for childbirth and make my determination after but I went ahead and went for it since I was not sure on how long I was going to wait to have kids.

LOL!  That is tooooo funny Prissy!

Earlier you said you can't even see your scars - are you usually prone to scarring or do you heal pretty well?  Also, why were they put in that way (in the armpit) as opposed to going in through the bellybutton or underneath the breast?

LMonet, I would say yes b/c a few years ago I had to have a procedure done, nothing cosmetic, because I had a tumor removed and I still have that scar.  Thank goodness no one can see that one.  However, that procedure was much more evasive than this.  My cut for that was like 5 inches long where for my implants it was only 1 1/2 inches at most.  My doctor thought this would be the best method for me since I did not need a lift.  Typically they do the cut under the breast if they do a lift or partial lift.  Mine were so small I had nothing to lift.  Ha! Ha!  Not all doctors do transax (under the arm) since the procedure takes a little more time and it is not as easy.  When I was considering this I found a website called www.implantinfo.com which helped me out so much.  They have forum where a lot of girls post that are thinking about getting it done and/or had it done.  The forum is broken up into 2 sections - general questions and support.  The also have other sections such as before and after pics and FAQ's.  You should really check it out.  I don't mind you asking me either.  I hope I have helped you out a little.

Please excuse me if this sounds stupid, I really know NOTHING about this operation. I have a couple questions:

#1 What happens when you are like, 60?  Do you take the implants out then?  How does your skin around your breast react to taking it out?  Wouldn't there be extra skin? You certainly wouldn't be 80 with breast implants...What do you ladies plan to do when you cross that bridge?

#2.  Boobs are made of fat.  Why can't doctor fill a cup of fat from my thighs and implant it into my boobs?  You can fill a cup with silicon and saline, which can become toxic to someone or cause ripples.  Fat would solve those problems, so why don't they do it?

I don't mean to put anyone on the spot or disrespect, I'm just curious.

I think the deal with fat is, it migrates and you never know how much will be reabsorbed etc. Injecting fat is not the same as placing a closed object in there.

I have been thinking about a breast reduction for a couple of years now but have held off because I think a breast reduction actually does make it impossible (or, a lot less likely) to be able to breastfeed, which is something I want to do if I have kids. So part of me is reading these posts and going "nooooo! don't do it! big boobs are a pain in the ass!" etc. I would be SO happy to have a generous B cup. I dream of it. But I know, the grass always seems greener, no matter what side you're on.

Mia, I didn't mean to just put fat there.  I mean, silicon and saline are in a pouch that's implanted.  Why can't they take my love handles out, put that fat in a pouch and implant it into my A cups?  That would be nice...  Mia, I didn;t know a breast reduction would cause risk of not being able to breast feed, interesting...

Probably because for most people, it would be too labour intensive (i.e. why double the surgery risks - and liposuction has one of the highest complication rates of all cosmetic procedures - although it is still comparitively low), and in the end, you're still putting a foreign body (the thing that would contain the fat) into your body. But yes, I understand what you're saying.

Hell jen, we need some kind of procedure to share the boobs. 'Cause I got too much and would be happy to give some away. Heh.

As for breast reductions, they actually remove things (tissue, fat, milk ducts etc.) - breast implants don't remove anything, so there's not really a risk there - in terms of breastfeeding. Pammy Anderson apparently breastfed both her boys and if she can do it with those giant monsters...I think it's OK.

Mia, my cousin had a breast reduction when she was younger (she was HUGE!!!!) and she just had a baby and is breastfeeding as far as I know. I don't think it should really be an issue. I guess it depends on each individual case though...
