congrats!! telling the boss is always hard, especially when they are a jerk like mine was. (i told him & he didn't even look at me, he just said "ok".) anyways, i say just get it over with, u'll feel so much better. just say, i accepted a job so i'm putting in my two weeks (be sure to do it in writing as well). don't hem & haw and try to make excuses or make ur boss feel better or anything (unless u like them). good luck!
congrats! you'll be up the block from me. i'm not sure if that's considered murray hill or just mid-town. also there are lots of cute bankers in that area!
Congrats and yes putting it writing is necessary. Put in the letter that you have accepted a new job, the date that will be your last day and it's always good to add how much you have enjoyed working with the company, etc.

don't mind at all. i work as a paralegal. i'm on 32nd & park. so let me know when you want to grab lunch.
aj, i was actually going to respond to your other post. i don't have a certificate. i got the job right out of college. i know that it varies from firm to firm, but i don't think anyone at my firm has a paralegal certificate. granted we are in a boutique field, but i interviewed with other firms right after college and none of them required a certificate either. i *think* that most people who have a certificate do so in lieu of getting a degree (but i can't be sure). however i really don't think you'll need a certificate to be a paralegal.

I was told that before I even tell them I am leaving I should make sure I have everything I want to keep out of my cubicle and that everything I want from my computer is forwarded home and erased from my work computer in case I don't get to go back to my desk. I don't know if I should do that because nobody I know has ever been immediately escorted out. They have all worked through the 2 weeks. If my boss did what your boss did, I would probably cry. I hope that when I tell my boss, he will be disappointed but understanding. I have actually been worrying that he might act like that before you even said that. In a way, I am still hoping that when I put in my notice, they will offer me something better at my current job. I really don't know what they will do without me. I am covering 2 (about to be 3) positions and I had more challenging responsibilities than others in my position. On the other hand, some other really good people have left my job in the recent months and they weren't given any counteroffers, so it is pretty unlikely that I will either. I always just hope that when I leave jobs they will give me a better deal and then I can stay. I have such a fear of change that when things are about to change (even for the better) I hope that something comes along so that I don't have to change anything. Only once was I actually made a counteroffer and it wasn't nearly good enough. "
aw, aj, i didn't mean to overwhelm/scare u! even if no one b4 u has been escorted out, that doesn't mean u shouldn't follow the advice of "getting ur affairs in order". better safe than sorry! and if ur boss does react the way mine did, just know that karma/golden rule/do unto others really does come true... my (ex)boss got fired a few months ago for altering people's timesheets! (he took hours off from the lowest paid workers, what a jerk!) anyways, good luck & don't stress too much!
