when to take down holiday decorations

when do you all usually take down your holiday decorations?  ours went up late (the week b/f xmas) so while i feel that the whole thing is over now, it was so much work to put them up that i don't want to pack it all up now.

my family used to do it the week after new year's.  i lived with this guy once and we left our tree up until mid-late feb.  (he was a freak about xmas lights -- he would have had the thing up all year if left to his own devices)

i am going to start my own tradition next year of decorating the first week of dec. and taking stuff down new years day (if not too hungover)

In my family we've always put it up the weekend before christmas and taken them down Jan 6 since that is the end of the christmas season and the end of the 12 days of christmas.

My family also used to take things down on January 6th (Feast of the Epiphany). My mom was a Catholic school teacher so we were always home. My sister and I would leave our shoes out to be filled with little gifts by the Magi and then the next morning we would take down all the decorations.

Our decorations have been up since early December.  My fiance had this week off from school so he took down the tree and stockings on Monday - we still have our little "Christmas Village" up, but that will probably come down this weekend.

Jan 8th - according to the old Calendar, Russian Christmas in Jan 7th.  We always saved one present from under the tree to open on Russian Christmas.

i agree w/ the jan. 6th but sadly this was my first year sans xmas decorations.  not even a tree!!  kinda sad but i value my beige carpet just a little too much to sacrifice it to the pine needles & sap

Our decorations come down after 1/6, but as time allows. Probably over next weekend the tree (artificial) will come down and all the other stuff. The outdoor lights will come down about the same time and even though they may be up, they won't be lit after 1/6.

This year, probably January 10th. My brother is coming to town on the 5th, so I want him to see my decorations, but when he leaves on the 10th...so do the pretty ornaments

Sadly, last year I took the decorations down in late January. I kept the tree up until April 1, but that's because I was working on an independent movie and my apartment was the designated meeting place. Everyone on the production made me keep the tree itself intact until the production disbanded because it was the "tree of inspiration" .

(don't worry...it was a fake pre-lit tree)

January 7 is when we take down our holiday decorations. Its a Mexican tradition to celebrate Three King's Day on Jan. 6th.

I think we are going to take tree down this week, along with all our holiday knickknacks

I'm bad I took mine down yesterday.  I was ready to put it all away.

usually all of our decorations are left for the longest time until they are practically begging to be put away, but this year I wanted to be more organized and timely, so I just packed away everything tonight. it actually didn't take too long, but I did skip the vacuuming. perhaps I'll do that tomorrow. i'm kind of sad because the house looks so plain compared to before.

We put ours up the first week of December and take them down the first week of January. After about a month, I'm sick of looking at them. We are taking everything down tomorrow.

i always take mine down on 1/2.  i get a little misty, too, but i like having it put away before it becomes annoying to look at.
