So I am a blonde again...(makeup question)

and it feels SO weird! I dyed my (naturally dark blond & highlighted) hair brown about 5 months ago and decided to go back...as of today it's blonde with lots & lots of gold highlights.

So...now my makeup looks so weird! I have been wearing a lot of pink shadows and berry-colored lipstick...with this hair color I look like a Barbie doll in that makeup. Any suggestions? I can't believe I can't remember how to wear makeup as a blonde

Do you have pale skin? If so, I would say brown eyeshadows and pale pink lips. If you think black mascara is too harsh, maybe try a dark brown. I also think rosy cheeks is a must if you have pale skin and blonde hair, so a blush like NARS Orgasm would be perfect.

If you have tan skin, I would still use brown shadows, but maybe add some dark brown liner and dark lashes. And for lips, how about a pinkish red matte lipstick with a nice gloss (or rosebud salve) over?

Hope that helps! My hair isn't too blonde anymore, but I tried...

By the way, can you post a before/after pic? I'm interested in changing my hair color and I would love to see how yours turned out. Thanks!

oh, I am pale all right. I played around today and I think I just need to wear less eye makeup. For some reason I think I could get away with more makeup when my hair was dark.

Anyway, you wanted pictures. Excuse the poor quality of the first and the pjs in the second:

as a brunette... and now back to blonde...

OK sorry. The first pic looked huge on my computer, but teeny on everyone else's . Fixed

Have you tried red lipstick? Not cherry-red, maybe closer to a brickish red (although not quite brick...sorry...explaining badly). I have a red Stila lipstick called Salome that ROCKS and I have the same colouring as you - a little blonder but also v. pale. perhaps slightly paler than your skin. The red looks very good on me, something I never would have guessed until I tried it (I always thought I was too 'colourless' to do red and assumed it was only for olive or darker skintones - I don't like the way it looks on G Stefani, for example - too harsh).

I also second the brown eyeshadow recommendation. In the summer I'll play around with bright eyeliner - bright green, or teal, usually.

Thanks for the compliments everyone...I am still kind of having second thoughts, but whatever, it's just hair, right?

Mia...I was just running out to the drugstore when I read your post and I picked up this reddish brown lipstick -- I really do like it! (Post blot, of course)
