My boyfriend is taking me skiing/snowboarding in utah (park city area) in late january, but I've never been before. Would a jacket like one of these be suitable?
I snowboard and I have an ae coat. They are not the worst coats, but they are not the best coat. If $60.00 is your price range then that is a pretty good coat for your money, but if you can afford more I would. Those coats are great when you are walking into the mall, but if you are spending a whole day outside in the snow it is not the best choice. I would check out Columbia, The North Face, Burton or LL Bean. They have a lot of warm clothes. They have a whole catalog for outside activites- a great place to look.

woo - do you plan on snowboarding/skiing again after this trip? If not, I would strongly recommend against Burton or The North Face just based on that fact that they're damned expensive! Def. not worth the price for one trip - go with the AE if you're not going to ski again. That's my advice, anyway.
