It's bad enough that this happened to the daughter but to think that she was forced to bring 7 children into that situation! I don't see how they'll ever live normally.
I read about this earlier- there are just so many things wrong with this situation. Besides the evil yickiness of the father, but 24 years? 7 kids? 1 of which he "burned" when it died? The wife didn't know about it?
Jeez. Pyscho much?
And uh, I know it was a long time ago, but didn't detectives search the house for clues and/or dead bodies? In today's world, Post-JonBenet Ramsey, I guess that would be a matter of course, but possibly not back then.

Normally I don't support the death penalty, but I wish Austria had it, just for this guy. I feel dreadful for his daughter and her children, I hope that they get help to get through all the horrible things they've experienced.
I find it really hard to believe that this guy's wife had no idea that something suspect was going on.
After reading the Times article, even IF Mrs. F truly wasn't involved, I believe she is in serious denial. How could she have never seen her husband's basement in 24 years? She knew she didn't want to know, she probably ignored intuition, and she chose not to investigate. Ignorance is bliss. Personally, I think it's neglectful to be so ignorant.

blink - definitely. Even if it is true that she didn't know what was going on, who wouldn't be completely suspicious if her husband didn't let her in her own basement?! I mean, I get having separate spaces, but never even being allowed to set foot in there would be a HUGE red flag. So she's either dumb as a box of rocks or completely in denial or lying. I just can't decide which.
Edited because I made an unforgiveable grammar mistake!

That is the first thing I said when I heard that story. It reminds me of the women who killed another woman for her fetus. She called her husband to come pick her and "their" newborn baby up in a parking lot. He says he just assumed she had been pregnant the whole time. WTF? How could he have been so ignorant?

There was something like that that happened in my hometown just a couple years ago (seriously, right up the street. Next to my grade school). Some lady tricked a pregnant lady into coming to her house. The pregnant lady thought that this other lady got some presents the pregnant lady was meant to get in a baby registry mix-up. So, the crazy lady attached the pregnant one and tried to cut her baby out of her. But the pregnant one fought back, go the knife, and killed her!!!
(she and the baby were both fine, save some bruises, etc. from the scuffle)
I know that has nothing to do with decieving your spouse, but it just reminded me...

Yes, I know her, it was a miracle she survived:)
I so think some people go in denial, not wanting to think your own mother, sister, husband could be capable of something so horrible.
