I have *killer* cramps today. Can't lay in bed. My MIL and SIL are coming in 5 hours and I still have to clean the house and pack to go out of town tomorrow, so I need to feel good. I've taken Advil and still feel like sh*t. Can anyone offer suggestions for non-medicinal relief? Anyone want to come babysit? ARGH!!!
Boil 1 cup water and throw in some cinnamon sticks for about 5 - 8 minutes let them boil and then drain and drink up . You can add a tsp. of honey for flavor. You should feel better within an hour.
Do you have a heating pad? Lay down for a 1/2 hour and have some tea and use your heating pad. I also find that if I 'let it all hang out' I am more crampy than if I am being held in by something, so maybe try jeans instead of sweats? Hope you feel better!

Sorry you're not feeling well. Take a long hot shower. A heating pad works wonders. I have one that I can strap on and still move around and get things done. I have also come to find that if I am wearing a tampon it hurts even more. Sometimes moving around helps so perhaps cleaning the house will help you get your mind off of it.
Thanks girls. I think I'm going to drink some chammomile tea get a strap-on heating pad. That's a drug store type item, right? I seriously don't have 30 minutes at a time to lay still w/ a heating pad. I'd LOVE to be able to take a Percocet right now, but I have to do some driving w/ the kids.
Go on the pill I've been on it since I was 16, I'm 19 now and it's all for cramps (I don't have sex). It works wonders. I don't know if this is a one time thing for you but if you have reoccuring bad cramps, considor the pill. It also really lightens your period which is great!
Tea and heating pads? My cramps laugh in the faces of tea and heating pads! Only drugs will do, Advil (good), Pamprin (better) or codeine (best, and which you can get OTC here - yay!).

Seriously, they're called '222's - just come on up, ask at any pharmacy and a bottle of opiate derivatives can be all yours. (is codeine an opiate? i think...!)

It's day #2 now, and we're driving 7 hours today (hubby is doing the driving), so I dug out the one Percocet I saved after my last C-Section. I don't know how else I'll be able to handle sitting still for 7 hours w/ cramps. This way I have an excuse to sleep and tune out my toddler.
I usually get horrible cramps and last month my girlfriend brought me disposable heating pads that stick to the inside of your underwear, against your lower belly. They worked great - each one lasts 12 hours and they can be worn undetected under clothing. I think that they only cost about $6 for 3, and they are sold at the drugstore next to fem. napkins.
