bare escentuals question
Permalink Closed

i've been using bare minerals as my foundation for about 6 months or so, and i like it a lot.  my problem is with the brushes - the bristles in my face brush break like crazy, and i always seem to end up with a bunch of them all over my shirt when i'm getting ready.  does anyone else have this problem?  am i just too rough with it or something?

also, do any of you use non-bare escentuals brushes with the foundation?  how does that work, and which brush do you use?  i think i need to switch.

thanks!

Yes! I have this problem too and it drives me nuts. At first I thought it was a faulty brush and e-mailed QVC and they sent me a new one but it still happens. I love BE and I won't switch. I've never tried other brushes. Maybe I will send an e-mail to BE directly (rather than QVC) and tell them about the problem. It may not do any good but it probably won't hurt either. Let me know if you find other brushes.

That sucks, I actually love their brushes.  I use them now even though I don't use the Bare Minerals foundation anymore.

I know that in the infomercials, that Leslie girl is obsessed with applying the powder with her brushes.  I'm not sure if there is something unique in their design to work with the powder???  If you want to try others, I love Mac brushes.  They are soft, they don't irritate my face and they have a long lifespan.

the same thing happend to me when i used the regular powder brush.  since then i bought the kabukki brush and the quality is so much better. the bristles are much softer and doesnt get 'coated' in the foundation like the regular brush does.

i dont think it matters which brush you use (BE or other brands).  however, if you want to stick with BE, the kabukki brush is really nice if you want to try it.  =)

I use this brush to apply my Bare Minerals and Mineral Veil.

Kabuki

It's the Kabuki brush from Valerie Beverly Hills. It's a very high quality one and I haven't had a single bristle break or anything. Any other kabuki brush would do the same job.

thanks, all of you.

i have the BE kabuki brush...i usually use that for just the mineral veil, but maybe i'll use it for the foundation powder too...especially since i just ran out of mineral veil anyway and probably won't reorder until after xmas...

Try an artist's supply store - they're cheaper, better made, and usually have higher quality bristles. Plus, there are so many styles that you can try out different kinds to see how they work - big and fluffy v. fan brush, for example, and none of them cost more than $20 so it doesn't matter too much if you don't like it.
