emergency! help me pick my office party outfit
Permalink Closed

my office's holiday party is tomorrow night. it's right after work and it's just on the two conference room floors so it isn't at all fancy. most people just get a little more dressed up than usual. in the past i've usually had a nice new outfit all picked out beforehand but this year i've got bupkis.

i kind of wanted to wear this, but the skirt is super clingy (it's knit) and i'm afraid i might feel self conscious. plus it's not very wintry feeling. i would wear a brown velvet blazer during the day.

i would probably feel more comfortable in this normally, however this is something that i would never ever wear to the office so i would probably wear a plain black cardigan during the day

or i could wear one of these sweaters with light gray wide leg pants. or a short straight skirt in either black or gray, but that seems too executive slut i think. the only problem with this is that it will likely cause serious nipplage.

thoughts? any of these? should i go back to the drawing board?

How cute are you I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who takes pics of myself and protential outfits.  Anyway, I vote for #1, very flattering and office party appropriate.  Love the shoes!

haha, thanks. i know, i felt like such a dork but i started freaking out when i couldnt figure out what to wear. i was even too lazy to crop my messy, makeup-less head. and my room looks like a tornado hit it!

i think i might go with #1. for some reason i was bothered by the fact that it doesn't scream "christmas time!" but the sweater is angora, the skirt is wool knit and the shoes are suede so it's definitely cold weather textures.

#1 looks great...but I don't think it's worth it if you're going to feel self-conscious the whole time.  I like the idea of the tie blouse with wide leg pants and heels.  Do you have a dressy shell or knit vest to go over it?  Maybe a sparkly brooch?

Where is the blouse from, btw?  I have a similar one in teal but without the details on the sleeves.  (Bought it from Forever 21...wasn't sure I'd like the whole tie neck look and wanted to test it out.)  I think those are cute!

I'd vote for #1, as long as you'll be comfy in it.

But you know, what's Xmas time without a little executive slut nipplage?  Give those old lawyers a little excitement!

i went with #1 plus the brown velvet blazer. i realized that if i wear a slip under the skirt, it doesn't get all clingy. duh. i was just really paranoid about it clinging around the crotch, which would be totally inappropriate for the office.

plus i put these boots on to wear to the office and i felt like some vision of hotness straight out of klute.

i think i'm actually going to wear this to the show i am going to after the party, instead of changing into jeans.

yay! thanks for your support!
