another freakin' ipod question

I am thinking of getting my husband a sound-dock thing for his ipod.  He LOVES his ipod -- he takes it everywhere. We don't really have or use a CD player system in our house anyway, so I was thinking he'd use this.  I am debating between:

Bose SoundDock -- http://www.bose.com/controller?event=VIEW_PRODUCT_PAGE_EVENT&product=sounddock_multimedia_index  This one's $299.99, so I am assuming it's the best product out there, right? The reviews seem to be good, and it's cool looking.

Then there's...

The iboom -- http://www.everythingipod.com/suggest.tpl?command=search&db=dbs/products.db&cart=1.2130421135998&eqPRONAMEdatarq=DLO%20iBoom%20%28boombox%20for%20iPod%20and%20iPod%20mini%29&searchSKU=w009-2020&max=1&eqAVAILdatarq=YES&max=1  It's $149.99 - It seems smaller, but it also has a radio in it. I like the portability of this one (so he could take it out when he's working on the yard, etc.) and obviously the price, but I don't know if the sound quality is crappy.

Any suggestions? I was hoping to spend about $200 on his gift, but I will pay the $$$ for the Bose system if it's *truly* worth the extra $150.

i was in the apple store the other day and everyone was raving about the bose sound quality.. so if i were you, that's what i'd purchase. i'm also a bit biased about bose quality b/c i have bose speakers in my car and they work perfectly and the sound is still clear after four years.

another idea for you is to buy an itrip and a sound system for your house (that is, if you wanted one) you could use the CD player when there is no ipod available, and when he wants to listen to the music from his ipod, he could just plug in the itrip and place it next to the CD player, fix the radio station, and voila!--music from the ipod (my SO has the itrip and i really think it's one of the most useful accessories available).

Thanks, monica.

My dad has the bose, and he says that while he loves it, he thinks it isn't that great of a deal b/c the ipod can be hooked up to any stereo system.

I think I am gonna look into itrip, or maybe I'll  get him tivo instead.
