I think Scott Peterson is a guilty as hell creep who will never feel all that badly about what he has done.
That said, I am adamantly againsty the death penalty. Since the mid-70's, over 115 people have been released from death row because new evidence became available. Sentencing someone to death actually causes the state more money than keeping them in prison for life. And, there is no evidence to suggest that threat of the death penalty actually deters anyone from committing a crime.
Further, even tho Scott may be a cold blooded killer, he still has family who love him and will suffer if he is put to death.
I don't feel the least bit sorry for Scott, but I don't think killing him will resolve anything.
I am happy that he got the death penalty. I am not usually for it, but this situation is very different. As humans, it is hard for us not to have vengeance in our hearts. When I think of what he did to his wife and his child I think he deserves everything he gets.
My brother was murdered when I was in the 3rd grade and the guy that did it walked because of sloppy police work. It wasn't much longer until he landed himself back in jail. Two years later I came home from school to find my mom crying at the kitchen table. (She did this a lot after my brother's death.) When I asked her why she was sad she said that she was so happy that she was crying. Turns out the guy that killed my brother was murdered in jail. We were all so happy that we went out to dinner and celebrated.
I have never once felt sorry for him or his family. He took my brother away from us 3 days before his 16th birthday and I will never forgive him for that. I hope he is rotting in hell.

i'm torn w/ the death penalty (b/c of the study that was mentioned earlier) and i would hate to be a member of his family and wonder 'if'. but specifically with peterson (from what know from the media) i feel that this verdict and punishment fits his crime.
I would rather see him rot in jail not because I am anti dealth penalty (because I am not) but because life is prison ends up costing tax payers less than putting someone on death row and having them exhaust the appeals process. I would rather see him in jail and let the other inmates take care of him.
I do not adamantly support the death penalty, for some of the reasons posted in this thread, but Scott Peterson deserves it at as much or more than other murderers on death row.
