Through a local job site, I found a job that I really want. I submitted my application and wrote what I thought was a really good cover letter. This was just yesterday and the job posting closes on Feb 25.
It says in the ad that "XXXX would like to thank all interested applicants but we will only contact the candidates we will be interviewing." Which means I shouldn't call them about my resume, right? I want this job bad though, is there anything I should do to make myself stand out or just wait it out and see what happens?
I think you could call. If they are, in fact, only contacting the ones they'll be interviewing, than you aren't hurting yourself by calling (I mean, if they weren't going to interview you anyway then you have nothing to lose).

You can call to follow up. They're just saying that they're going to neither call nor write you if you didn't get the job. You know how some companies will send rejection letters?
