I have it and yes- very text friendly! It shows a message history with your messages in green and the other person's messages in white.....just makes things easy visually.
I just got it last week and I LOVE it!!! The most user friendly phone I've ever had! And texting is super easy. I also found this place and got a skin for my phone from them, so my phone looks super cute (and pink ): www.decalgirl.com
my fiance and my dad both have one and LOVE them! i've played around with them a bit and they seem very user-friendly. CC just got one too as a very cool birthday gift.
I have one and I literally think it is the greatest of my lifetime. I'm actually surprised by how much I love it because I generally am not a fan of apple products, but I'm so glad I got it and it is so helpful and easy to use. The texting feature is certainly really easy to use.
I just got one as a gift! I'm wondering though- how much do you girls pay monthly for your plan? I am worried about expenses since I"m on my family's plan now for free.
Thanks everyone and as Lynnie asked did it make your bill go up alot from your regular bill? I already have the highest internet package so I don't know if it would be much higher.
The data package comes standard with the iphone, so I don't think it raises your bill any... at least that's the way I understood it when dh explained it to me. And that's also a factor when I was looking at blackberries was the data package price versus when you get the iphone it's already included. So the phone pays for itself within a year.
To use iPhone, you'll need to sign up for a 2-year service agreement or a renewed 2-year service agreement if you're an existing AT&T wireless customer.
The plans start at $59.99 and include Visual Voicemail and Unlimited Data with both email and web plus texting. You can browse the Internet and send emails as often as you like without being charged extra.
You'll choose your plan during the activation process.
Existing Customer Plans
If you're an existing AT&T wireless customer and you want to keep your current voice plan, you just need to add a data plan for iPhone. (This may replace your current data plan.) Data plans for iPhone give you Visual Voicemail, SMS Text Messaging bundles, and Unlimited Data, which includes both email and web, all for as little as $20.
You'll add a data plan for iPhone during the activation process.

It really depends on what your current plan is. The iPhone does not come w/ a plan, but it does require that you use AT&T and that you purchase a plan that includes data. I was already an AT&T customer, but I didn't have a data plan (no texts or emails or whatever) so I pay $20 more/month now that I've added the most basic data plan.
There are a variety of different packages tho w/ different levels of phone minutes, text msgs, etc. You can find them all on the AT&T site.
My Razr phone, which has never really worked and I've always hated it, is now starting to really die (the battery won't hold a charge anymore), so I think I'm going to switch, too. Good to know the plan won't be much more expensive--that was what was holding me back.
Does anyone use the music feature on theirs? I already have an iPod, so I don't really see myself using that too much. Can you copy all of your iTunes music to the phone, too?

I use the music feature on mine all the time. Really having music and phone in one device is what drew me to iPhone. My mp3 player and my phone where always on me and I totally hated carrying around two different things.
bumblebee that is so funny because that is the same phone that I am trying to get away from and the same reason as well! I will charge my battery all night and it dies after I text message a few times!
Thanks everyone for the tips! I am glad the plans are not a lot more than what I already have!
