I've met Mike Gravel and he's a nut. Love him and he's awesome, but he's seriously off the deep end.

Did you know that he single handedly stopped the Vietman war? He'll tell you alllllll about it. Multiple times in a short timeframe.

I caught a bit of that in some of the interviews I read. I'd still love for him to be a part of the discussion. Can you imagine HRC and Obama bouncing off his points in the debates? They'd seem like such suits!

He actually participated in some of the early debates, and "off the deep end" pretty much sums it up! smile.gif He didn't have it together enough to make HRC or Obama seem stuffy.

I am Super Tuesday OBSESSED. Seriously.

I am also in California. San Francisco, to be exact. The city that proclaimed itself the city that would "win CA for Barack Obama." So, reading this thread, I literally cannot contain my shock; I just keep thinking "there are still Republicans in the world" and "there are people who aren't voting for Obama." I mean, obviously, I read the coverage, but I can probaly count on my hands the number of people I know (including me) who aren't supporting Obama.

On that note:

number1.gif Go HRC!

According to this CNN article, Clinton currently has the support of 3x the number of superdelegates that Obama does, which will give her a big boost.

I have the same name there as here, so it was probably me. I try not to post too often because I hate to get sucked in while I'm at work. Do you post? What's your name there? Totally off-topic for this post but do you think Moe will quit? I hope not, because I really love her voice. I do wish she'd translate a little better on political issues. Remember that stink that came up over her berating the Clintons? In retrospect I get what she was saying but at the time it really felt like a slap in the face, because I felt "safe" there, politically speaking and she kind of took that away.

And yeah, Obama? Certainly wouldn't hurt my eyes if I got to look at him on a regular basis. biggrin.gif

Off topic!

I'm Yanee over there (random Arabic word I chose on a whim) but I don't post much either. Mostly cause the other commenters annoy me too much.

I'm a big Moe fan because once I wrote her an email about some stuff and she sent me a really long, thoughful response. Anyway, I say outrageous, stupid shit all the time and if I had to write twelve posts a day on a popular website I would undoubtedly offend a lot of people. What she wrote about women/Hillary was ridiculous, but so was the reaction. But I see her getting burned out. She's started responding to all the commenters who say anything negative about Jezebel and writing weird posts. However, I think she'd have a lot less options if she left than the recent exodus of Gawker editors so I dunno.

But I do love Jezebel, although recently I've been skipping a lot of posts. I just don't care about the ridiculous crap science journalism they always post about and Jessica in particular has been insanely ignorant about other cultures in some of her recent posts.

Anyway, I'm obsessed with Jez. Obvs.

I'm no expert but aren't superdelegates really big gray areas though? Even though some media outlets attribute them to certain candidates, aren't they the changeable delegates, essentially?

On a side note, I'm really loving how HRC is embracing yellow lately. It works for her and it makes the boring suit look better, imo.

I wonder how late I'll have to stay up to see how CA turns out?

What I'm most excited about is that my vote might actually count in a federal election for like the first time ever. Our primary isn't until March but we have a lot of delegates here in Texas. I'm in a very dem city (Austin), so I'm looking forward to being courted by HRC and Obama. The first to ply me with dark chocolate and red wine gets my vote. Ready, set, court!!

Maddie - I don't skip any posts (hardly ever) because I'm so desperately in need of intelligent conversation during the work day, I'll settle for pseudo-intelligent comments on snap judgments. I hope Moe doesn't go away. She and Slut Machine are my faves. Did you read all of SM's posts about the Porn Awards? Hahahaha! I couldn't believe someone would put something like that up on the internets for everyone to read. I just kept thinking, "did she use a condom?" and "what if her mom reads this?" I'm so lame. Hee.

Ewww. The Obama spokesperson on MSNBC has a salt-n-pepper mustache that makes him looks like he's been guzzling milk or dairy based products. But he's an excellent eyebrowicator (eyebrow communicator). His 'stache could really use some just for men, though. Ouch.

I agree with Tri Sarah Tops. A Clinton - Obama ticket is a possibility, but I think Clinton is too powerful to be a vice president. She's too entrenched in the establishment, and an extremely forceful personality. Personally I think whoever wins should try to convince Edwards to be vice president...I know he's said he will not consider being vice president, but I think that Clinton or Obama would have a much better chance of swaying moderates and/or independents to their side with Edwards on the ticket. I think that a Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton ticket would actually be extremely polarizing.

100% agree the ticket would be polarizing.  I just think there are too many people in the country unwilling to accept an African American/Woman ticket.  Sad, but true, I fear.

Also, everyone is being so anti-Romney, but with the economy in the state it is in, I think we could do a lot worse then electing a former, successful businessman...  Oh, and I hate McCain.  I worry about his age/disease if he wins and think he will definitely go for a second term.  Also, I know too many people who have worked for him and he is NOT a nice man... also not flexible at all...  which I think is essentially one of Bushie's biggest issues.

...but, hey, what do I know.  I really wanted Freddy T.

I love this thread. Politics without flaming.

I'm in Cali, a Non-Partisan voter, so I got to vote Democratic. I had to decide between my love for Kucinich and my loathing for Clinton. Even though D-K already dropped out, I considered wasting my vote on him just to tell the Democratic party that they need to listen to the voices of progressives. Like that strategy has ever worked...bah.

The superdelegate situation is another example of how our democracy is a joke. They can totally be bought through influence and favors.

LOL on the Gravel comments. Really, LOL. He's like your crazy grandpa who occasionally makes perfect sense and in the process puts the rest of the family to shame. And then he tries to eat his recliner.

Blubirde, I hear ya on the lame-a$$ Matthews comments about McCain winning blue states. I heard that too and was like uh...and?

Would it kill CNN to update the delegate tickers on the sides?

Sorry, I promise I'm not trying to attack you, but I'm just curious about this statement. Why do you love Bush if you think it's sad to do so?

...i have no idea...for the past year or so i've felt like i've had to apologize for my love of the Prez....i think i may need political therapy.

suasoria - i love dennis kucinich, but ufos!? lol.

i don't know how i feel about this race. hillary is a little too conservative for me, so i guess i'll vote for obama.

imo neither of them are going to pick the other for a running mate. and i agree with what jah + gingembre said...i think they'll both choose a white male as their running mate. (sad, but true!)

what's a good website to visit to get an UNBIASED look at all the people running and their stands on important issues?
i used to vote republican every time, all the time, but i think i'm more of a 'tween-er, now, since i don't really agree with everything they harp about and the democrats are a little bit TOO out there for me.
if only condi would run... sigh.

Can I jump on the off-topic Jezzie bandwagon? Jezebel is sometimes my only way to get through the day. At work...sometimes I have nothing to do and reading pages and pages of comments of Jezebel passes the time like nothing else. I'm not a commenter on there since that would suck even more of my time and despite being bored on some days other days I can't spare it. But there's a lot of stupid-science shit on there that I want to comment on because a lot of it is just plain stupid.

Plus...it's sorta like here...there's the in-crowd and cliques and everybody knows eachother and it's tough to break in. Or at least for newbies looking in from the outside. (Note...Duh, I know ST isn't like that but that's totally what message boards of any type look like to newbies)

Jezebel had a really great interview with Mike Gravel the other day.

I was really, really excited about Super Tuesday this year, so much so that I actually reregistered as a Democrat so I could vote in my first primary. I've been an Independent all these years but usually end up voting Democrat. I'd be happy with either Obama or Hillary, but I would be really pleased if Hillary got the nomination...and the suspense is killing me.

I only comment there on things that I think I have something real to say about. I actually commented the other day about how ridiculous some "study proves stress eating makes you more stressed and less stressed" article was that Dodai posted. That shit drives me insane and is in no way newsworthy.

But commenters there are ridiculous overall. I really only do this message board and I've been here forever so I've never been concerned with "breaking in" but they have this little cults around some ridiculous women over there who comment about NOTHING just to get cyber attention. Like, how cool are you that you have time to rack up thousands and thousands of comments on a frickin blog?

i recommend vote-smart.org ... they have tons of information about issues and candidates. you can review candidates' and elected officials' biographies, entire voting records, lists of organizations that support/endorse them, etc. if you put in your zip code, you can read this type of info for local officials as well.
