I know we can't have lost all our politics lovers here!  Who else is super excited about Super Tuesday?  I'm in NY where it polls are showing McCain and Clinton with decent leads but a number of states look like they have really close races in both the Republican and Democratic primaries.  The NYT has a really great election guide.

I'm home sick today (damn flu!) and I'm trying as hard as I can not to put CNN on. I know I'll be watching the returns all night. Its so exciting!!

Yes -- I miss our heated discussions!  I know this forum is "nice" but what happened to our backbones?

Well, it looks like McCain will most likely be the Republican candidate, IMO.  Which is good because he is the least scary out of all the Republican candidates... McCain may also make a good leader while we try to resolve the mess that Iraq is.

The Obama & Clinton races are interesting to watch... I wonder, when the Democratic candidate is chosen, if they'll approach the other to run as vice president... Would make for a powerful ticket...

I too am sooooo glad that it's looking good for McCain.  Romney and Huckabee scare the crap out of me  If either one were to be elected, on November 5th I'd be calling a realtor and applying for a visa because I seriously could not stand to watch that happen to this country. 

The Obama/Clinton race is really exciting and it's interesting to consider the democratinc "dream ticket."  I'm thinking that a Clinton-Obama ticket is a possibility, but not an Obama-Clinton ticket.  Clinton isn't well received by Republicans, while Obama has alot of support from the moderates.  Adding him to her ticket could increase her chances of winning.  Obama is viewed as an agent of change, and dragging along a Clinton would probably not be beneficial to him.

I agree with Tri Sarah Tops. A Clinton - Obama ticket is a possibility, but I think Clinton is too powerful to be a vice president. She's too entrenched in the establishment, and an extremely forceful personality. Personally I think whoever wins should try to convince Edwards to be vice president...I know he's said he will not consider being vice president, but I think that Clinton or Obama would have a much better chance of swaying moderates and/or independents to their side with Edwards on the ticket. I think that a Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton ticket would actually be extremely polarizing.

This is a really good observation.  I am a moderate, and I feel that some of Obama's "promises" are very unrealistic -- I often times feel he is just saying what people want to hear (but I guess all politicians do to some degree.)  That said, I would be less likely to vote for a Clinton/Obama ticket than a Clinton/Edwards ticket.

re Edwards - some people are saying that if Obama wins the nomination and then the presidency he would appoint Edwards as AG, which I think could be better than Edwards as VP.

I have never gotten an "I Voted" sticker!!

I hate the idea of a Clinton/Obama ticket. I can't say why, but I do. Maybe it's just that don't see them working well together at all... Its funny, a month or so ago I was thinking the Dems would have their nominee decided fairly early and the Reps would be left to duke it out, but it looks like it'll be the other way around.

I'm glad that McCain is doing so well- I've always liked him.

I like the idea of Edwards for AG too. And Clinton/Edwards would be ok, but I feel like Obama would be better off with an older and somewhat more established VP (that could be the campaign strategist in me though...)

Votin_n_stoatin_bleeped_2 Dewds, here's a great voting advertisement; I just received a pre-recorded (natch) phone call from STEVIE WONDER saying that he called to say he 'loves me' and that I should vote for Barack Obama. Awesome, Barack. And, um, Holy target audience.

I think C.O. should sponsor a radio ad of kittens purring for a candidate.

Do I dare ask who YOU are voting for on this fine Sthuper Tuesday? I'm still writing in Colbert.

Whatever you do, just don't fergit to vote. Polls open 'til 8PM.

I am neutral on McCain. He used to be the president of my heart, but now he's a bit too warmongering. However, I find him WAY better than Romney.

I like both Obama and Clinton, but I like Obama more. I am sad that I can't vote (I am an independent).

Backbone here, D!

I'm so freaking excited about Super Tuesday. I already told work I'd be coming in at noon tomorrow since I knew I'd be up late watching the returns.

As a crazy Dem, I'm not looking forward to McCain winning the nomination, although I think he will. I think he's the most electable out of all the Repub candidates, regardless of what stupid, drug-addled Rush says. I also think he's the candidate HRC would have the most trouble beating and although I'm not saying she'll win the nomination, I like to hedge my bets. I'd like to see a Repub get the nomination that I feel both HRC or Barack could beat pretty easily.

And I know I should be happy a more moderate Repub is the potential candidate because he's the lesser of all the evils but I'm not. I'd rather see a beatable candidate. But what do I know? I was convinced Kerry had it in 2004.

cc - I read somewhere that NY doesn't do the "I Voted" stickers. Sucks! That's 90% of the joy of going to the polling place.

I've met Mike Gravel and he's a nut. Love him and he's awesome, but he's seriously off the deep end.

Did you know that he single handedly stopped the Vietman war? He'll tell you alllllll about it. Multiple times in a short timeframe.
