How do you clean fashion jewelry?

Like non silver/gold jewelry.  My mom's friend gave a ton of jewelry and I wanted to clean them up before wearing them.  Some are starting to look a little dull, can I use regular gold cleaner?

Your safest bet is probably a mixture of baking soda and water. Mix it up so the consistency is like a thin paste. Put it directly on the jewelry and buff it with a soft cloth. That should work very well.
