Super Bowl Party

My husband and I decided last night that we will be hosting a Super Bowl party next week for our friends.  Nothing big, just a few couples.  So...any ideas of good, easy, quick-to-prepare things to serve?  Thanks!

Not a recipe, but I recently discovered the Farm Rich mozzarella bites (I found them in the frozen section at Walmart) and they are seriously soooo yummy! They only take 6 minutes in the oven.

How about a layered dip? You can buy it in the store pre-made or make it yourself. Starting at the bottom I put in refried beans, salsa, guacamole, sour cream, shredded cheese, and garnish with green onions and olives. Of course don't forget the tortilla chips!

this may be more of a southern thing (i honestly don't know...) but one of my all-time favorites is sausage balls and they are super easy to make
this recipe makes about 45 sausage balls (depending on how big you make them)
1 pkg jimmy dean hot sausage (they aren't hot, the hot kind just adds more flavor)
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup of bisquick
cook at 375 for 20-22 minutes
they are sooooo yummy:)
have fun at your party!

I second the sausage balls, they are really yummy! I usually make this dip which is always a huge hit:
2 qt. oven safe dish
1 1/2-2 packs of cream cheese
1 can of black beans(drain first)
salsa (sometimes we use peach salsa)
I pack of shredded cheddar cheese

Layer them in the order I listed and then bake for about 20 min. at 350 degrees, let it cool and serve with tortilla chips.

One year I made a baked dip with frozen artichoke hearts and cream cheese and parmesan. It was a big hit. You serve it with crackers or slices of baguette.

I just winged it - coarsely chopped the defrosted chokes (two bags from TJs), mixed in softened cream cheese (don't recall how much), a lot of parmesan, minced garlic, and lots of pepper. I added more parmesan on top and baked it for probably 15-20 minutes in the low 300s.

You could probably look up a basic spinach dip recipe and sub artichokes.

I'm thinking of something that resembles a meal, so I think I'll make soup or chili served in mugs, maybe kept warm in the crock pot off to the side somewhere. Then people can grab some if they want or we can eat leftovers.

Hot wings are always a big hit. I don't have a recipe for one but you could make them in a croc pot, or buy them already made.

we like to make BBQ meatballs for parties because you can stick them in a crockpot and everyone can help themselves. plus, the longer they sit in the crockpot, the better they are! my husband loves to make these and people request them for most of our get togethers.

BBQ meatballs

Meatballs:
2 lbs. hamburger (or ground turkey, or 1/2 and 1/2)
2 eggs
14 crackers (saltines work best)
1/4 c. onion
1 tsp salt and pepper

Sauce:
2  8 oz. cans of tomato sauce
1 c. ketchup
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. onion
1/4 c. water
1 tsp. worstershire sauce
1 tbsp. vinegar

roll meatballs into 1 1/2 inch balls and place in 9 x 13 pan. bake at 350 for 30 minutes. remove meatballs from oven, pour sauce mixture over them, return pan to oven. cook for 30 more minutes. transfer meatballs and all sauce to crockpot, if desired.

We're having a super bowl party too and plan on serving

Hot wings which I'll make in the slow cooker
Taco dip
Cheese plate with crusty bread, crackers, grapes, apples figs etc
A big batch of sloppy joe for real food rather then snacky food
Then the typical chips and dips nachos type stuff

So far I think I am going to serve this:

-pepperoni dip
-spinach/artichoke dip
-Dill dip with veggies
-chips
-I did get those mozzerella bite things that FP suggested!

-I ordered hero sandwiches
-I think I'm going to make a lasagna (I wanted to have a hot entree too)
-salad
-probably cole slaw

-Football cake
-Lemon squares
-maybe cookies
-maybe fruit salad

I just bought my fun Superbowl and Giants (sorry Patriots fans...but I live near NYC!) cups, plates, and napkins.  I will have a few Giants mylar balloons outside.  I also got this fun plastic tablecloth that looks like astroturf and I got some cute shiny metallic football confetti to scatter over the tablecloth.  I'm so cheesy, I know!

Mine was great!  Definitely there was too much food.  Plus, the Giants won, so that made the party even better! smile
