I looked at the South America post and noticed a few of you have been or lived in BA. I am visiting a friend that is living there for a few months and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations. Especially on day trips, food, things to see... i'm there 2 weeks so I'd like to get out of the city at least a couple of days.
Lynnie! Oh gosh, I'm so excited for you. PM me and I'll e-mail you the write-up/review of all the amazing restaurants in Buenos Aires. If you want to tango, I'll let you know all that stuff too. I looooooooooooooooooooooooooove Buenos Aires. If you get a chance you should go to Mendoza or Iguazu as well.
I agree about BA being amazing, I literally fell in love with the city. I totally agree about Iguazu, but make sure you literally only go for the day, or spend the night and leave early the next morning because other than the waterfalls there is literally nothing to do there. Mendoza was ok, it was like a smaller, cleaner version of BA, but I didn't think it was anything spectacular. I love Bariloche much better. It was like a swiss village with amazing chocolate and skiing (I was there in July though). Either way, it was really cool because there was a lot to do, chocolate, and it showed me a completely different side to Argentina. A long trip that I took went to Calafate. It was a long bus ride, but I literally was at the edge of the world almost. It was amazing seeing a glacier that is so huge, and actually still growing. It was one of the more memorable places I went to while I was there. It was worth the LONG bus ride for me, but I was also there for 2 months. You will totally love BA, the food is amazing, the people outside the city are great.... I am so jealous! Now I want to go back! PM me if you have any questions. HTH!
