my brother-in-law and his wife had to use a fertility monitor because they'd been trying to get pregnant for 5 years. i think they only had to try once or twice and they got pregnant right away, so i'd say it worked pretty good for them. they've not had a problem conceiving since then, either. good luck! :)

I have no experience but wanted to say Good Luck!! Not sure if you've thought about it/tried it but I got pregnant the first month that I charted.
I did chart for about 3 month but my charts are pretty unpredictable. We weren't trying to get pregnant at that time so I wasn't too worried about it but I think I'm going to chart in addition to using the fertility monitor. I'm hoping that using both methods will either help me get pregnant really soon or alert me to a possible problem sooner.
We used one. Actually, my father bought it for us. Sounds creepy but he's an infertility specialist and I grew up talking about fertility and infertility, etc and ob/gyn stuff (altho in highschool and college anything i had a question about was really for my "friend") and when I was talking about starting to try my dad came home w/it. He's the expert and that's the one he got and the one he reccomends to his patients (altho if they're going to the Dr. there are often more important issues than not knowing when they're ovulating).
Anyway, my husband and I used it for the 1st 2 months and I kept track on a calendar as well (as per my OB/GYN's instructions). The chart ended up being the most helpful thing because I could show it to the Dr 3 mo later to say, look what we've been doing...why isn't this working. In the 3rd month, when we'd stopped using the monitor, we got pregnant.
There are other factors, like we stopped fighting about HAVING to have sex on a 3 day (the way the monitor tells you it's a peak fertility day) and I was able to relax about the entire thing. Also, I had been getting up to pee everytime after (this might be TMI, but it made the difference) we'd try bc I am VERY prone to UTIs and if I got one then we cldnt' try, etc...So I took cranberry pills, stopped getting up, hung out for a few minutes and poof...I'm 6 weeks prengnant. This was also as per my ob/gyn's instructions. Yeah, everyone known not to get up immediately, but I have friends who pee right after and got pregnant so I figured it was OK.
There are a lot of factors involved and the monitor definitely gave me security when I needed it. I'm saving it for next time.
Thanks Jesstillman! I'm glad to know that your dad trusts the monitor! That means a lot coming from a specialist so now I really can't wait to start! I ordered from amazon.com and it's taking FOREVER to get here.
I thought about using the fertility monitor..but I instead charted and I got pregnant in two cycles...we are trying again soon for #2 and Ithink I might just chart again, but if we have trouble i think I might try ther monitor. good luck!
