Did anyone catch the pilot for this? It premiered on Sunday night (it's on ABC) and the next episode airs tonight. I really enjoyed it...I think it might become my new favorite show.
I liked it but will have to hold out to see if it is a keeper. I do Lucy Liu though!
I think there are enough differences from SATC to actually warrant them creating a new show. The most obvious, in my opinion, is the FASHION not being there, at least not in the way it was featured in SATC...though that judgment is only from watching the premiere, that may change.
eta: Ok, so the ladies proved to be more fashionable in the second episode, but still, there is no one to compare with Carrie--not that I would expect there to be.
I thought it was awful and I was really disappointed. I was thoroughly bored and ended up changing the channel unconsciously (very unlike me - but definitely a sign that the show could not hold my interest!)
I'm bummed - I was really hoping it would somehow be reminiscent of SATC - about the only resemblance is that there are four women in a urban setting. The writing is not even close to SATC - and that's what made SATC worth watching (and Carrie's outfits )

I thought it was ok. I will continue watching because there's nothing else on and I'm hoping it improves. It's cute, but I found the first episode pretty cheesy. The line at the end where the woman sleeping w/the other woman's hubby comes up and says "The Cashmere Mafia..that's what they call you, you know", killed me. That was so lame IMO.
It doesn't remind me of SATC at all though - I think the only reason it's being compared to that is because it's about 4 women. That's the only similarity I see. Nothing will ever come close to SATC IMO.
well now I have to watch it online or something! The title and the few promo pictures I saw made me think that it would be a bunch of women solving crimes or being general hardasses or....something. But if it's cute/cheesy and reminds everyone of SATC, I should give it a try :)

I watched the second episode last ngiht and I didn't liek it nearly as much. It reminds me more of desperate housewives than SATC. I'll give it another chance or two, just to see where it goes.

I agree. Although if you go back and watch the first few episodes of SATC they were super cheesy too. Maybe there's hope.
I hate the name, and I hate the "Four women who are close, close friends," theme that everyone does. So I thought I would hate the show.
But I love it. I think it's the fantasy of being so successful and powerful and together. I watch it like porn. "Ooh, look at her office! Look at her hair! I want Prada shoes..."
I think I'll keep watching it. It wasn't horrible, but I think it has potential to improve. Although some of their career stuff seem contrived - I mean, they would sit around talking about how career driven they were instead of just letting the audience see that for themselves. I felt like I was being hit over the head with "WE ARE CAREER WOMEN, MAYBE YOU DIDN'T HEAR IT THE FIRST TIME LET ME SAY IT AGAIN! WE ARE CAREER WOMEN!"
but I liked it. It was like a meatier SATC and it was harder to "peg" the characters (as opposed to SATC, where there was the hopeless romantic, the slutty one, the cold one, the messed up one...)
I kind of hate that I'm comparing it to SATC so much, but it's inevitable!

LOL!
I also didn't like the 2nd episode as much, but we'll see.
The whole format reminds me of SATC except without all the fun. The four close, high-powered friends, meeting at their favorite spot, blah blah blah. Although as FP said, the early episodes of SATC weren't great either so maybe there's hope.
FH watched the pilot with me and he liked the part where Miranda Otto's character told her husband she was going to take a lover. But he hated the rest of it.
I could use a bit less going on at one time with all the characters. It is very rare that all my friends are having life changing dramas all at the same time. I'd like the same to happen with the show.
