Hi ladies! If you're interested in participating in the Workout Challenge please post your first goal/reward here.
I need lots of motivation to get started so I am going to do small weekly goals/rewards for a month, and then move to bigger monthly rewards.
My goal for the rest of this week is to make it to the gym for cardio tonight, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. If I do this, on Sunday morning instead of going to the gym, I am going to go get a bagel (with minimal low fat cream cheese) and a latte. If I miss one of these days, on Sunday I have to be at the gym for 7am opening.
Next week, I want to do cardio at least five days, preferrably six. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday I am going to do strength training in the exercise room at work during my lunch break. Goal for next week is new mascara - I've been wanting to try shu uemura. Bonus lip gloss if I do cardio six days instead of five.
My goal is to be at the gym 4 days this week and get 1 physical activity in during the weekend (probably tennis). If I accomplish all of this, I'll get the wallet I've been wanting and searching for for months.
Next week, if I do the same, I'll allow myself a small, completely un-needed, Target purchase.
At the end of the month, if I've maintained my schedule, I'll allow myself some new workout clothes.
My ultimate goal is to lose 30 pounds (I'm also strictly watching my food intake). At 10 I'm getting a massage. At 20 I'm getting another massage. At 30 I'm getting new sneakers and perhaps a few new articles of clothing. I'm shooting for April to reach my ultimate goal. I can't be terribly strict for much longer than that. Hopefully by then going to the gym everyday after work will be a habit.
Mini-goals: 1. Make working out a habit - starting with at least 5 nights a week either running or going to the gym 2. Eat smaller portions and less processed food.
Rewards: If I can sustain the working out til the end of the month, I will get fancy new running tights by Sugoi.
If I lose the weight - a fabulous new pair of jeans.
You guys have great goals. I've been thinking about my weight loss goals but haven't decided on them yet because i'm not sure how much I want to lose. I think that I'd like to lose between 15 - 20 pounds, but I've never been that thin in my life - that weight would be ideal for my height, but I don't know if it's realistic for my body.
I think I'll start with 10 pounds by Valentine's Day, see how I look/feel and go from there. My reward will be a new pair of black flats - mine are getting pretty worn.
Ok I'm in. My goal is to work out 4 times a week, all with cardio, 2 of those days with weights as well. I'm making my start day Friday (I tend to be more motivated with the coming weekend!)
My ultimate goal is not to lose weight per say but to be healthier and have more lean muscle mass. I'm trying to have a baby so I really need to get myself as healthy as can be.
goals: stick to a workout schedule and not get bored and give up after a few weeks. Get toned by October for our beach vacation!
everyday: walk the dog 2x per day, about 1.5 hours total (.5 in the am, 1 hour in the evening)
1-2x per week: go to pilates class (Sunday am) or yoga-pilates fusion (Wednesday) 1x per week: lane swim 1-2x per week: Carmen Electra Strippersize dvd (I know, but its so fun!)
mimi goal: cut down on junk food!!! BF is so bad for eating treats and its contagious
I'm in! I didn't say anything on the initial thread but I definitely want to be a part of this. I don't want to lose weight, but since I graduated I'm much more sedentary (walking around the office isn't quite as good as walking around a big campus and to/from school every day) and I want to make sure that I don't GAIN weight. It doesn't help that I get a doughnut from the gas station next door almost every morning and I've developed an uncharacteristic affinity for beer lately! Plus I just need to be healthier in general, blah blah blah.
This is a puny goal, but I'm really not the exercising type so it's still a big change for me right now! My mini goal is to do yoga 3x a week starting out. I just got a new yoga tape (yeah, it's a VHS) that I love and I did the other day, it kicked my ass. I'll let myself substitute dancing classes for 1 yoga session. This coming week, my city's ballet company is having complimentary adult ballet classes. I'm also trying to find a new ballroom studio, so when I do that I'll let myself substitute a dance class for a yoga session. I haven't decide on what my short-term goals are. But when I have mastered the headstand position (which will take me a long time, I fell over about 5 times the other day before giving up) I'll get myself a massage!

I started Friday and goal was to work out 4 times a week...well so far I worked out Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, so 1 more day to go! My treat for being good this week is a little Target shopping spree (I very much want that short sleeved jacket that everyone's been getting...)
Mini goal 1 down! I get to buy my wallet now. On to mini goal 2.
Can we start this thread or update it every month? I need to update my mini goals because I need the positive reinforcement.
What if we did it every week? a weekly check-in may help more than a monthly one, because most of the goals we've made involve working out x number of times per week, etc.

I agree. i'll start a new thread tomorrow morning and we can share how we did the previous week and state our upcoming goals.
I did well this week - lost a couple of pounds and made my goal. Yay! I didn't even feel like going for a bagel this morning so I allowed myself a cheeseburger at lunch instead and I didn't even eat the whole thing.
Also, just wanted to share that i've been feeling great. Working out does so much to improve me mood and overall feeling of well-being, which is definitely a motivator.
