- Gettin' Jiggy Wit It (Will Smith). Will's rapping just cracks me up sometimes.
- I Get Excited (Rick Springfield). He had more to offer than just "Jessie's Girl"...
- If You Had My Love (J. Lo)
- Love Ain't No Stranger (Whitesnake). And actually I own an entire Whitesnake album (plus several other "hair band" albums) What can I say? I'm a child of the '80s.
- Love on the Rocks (Neil Diamond). My mother is a huge fan, and I heard a lot of Neil growing up. This cracks me up because it's hilariously over-dramatic.
- Poison (Bell Biv DeVoe). I don't know why; I just love it.
- Goodbye to You, The Warrior, and Love's Got a Line on You (all by Scandal). See "Love Ain't No Stranger" for explanation. :)
I also have four or five Britney songs on iTunes....mostly from her first album. But bought long after it came out. Now they make me nostalgic for the old Britney, which I never thought I would be. :(

Have you ever heard the cover that was done by Westlife (Irish boyband) and Mariah Carey? That's the version I have on my iPod and it is gloriously cheesy. It makes the Phil Collins version very distinguished by comparison.

I have not! *runs off to search for Westlife*
I attribute my love for that song to the fact that I was sixteen when it came out, and it suited all my over-the-top teenage emotions then. And now I find myself fondly nostalgic about it. :)

altgirl: My fave over-the-top dramatic Neil Diamond song is his duet with Barbra Striesand: You Don't Bring Me Flowers.
Also, The Smiths, The Cure, New Order, etc. (although I don't find them cheesy) spoke to the angst ridden, dramatic teen me the same way. Those songs make me lol now. I have to quote The Smiths There is a Light That Never Goes Out:
Take me out tonight Because I want to see people and i Want to see life Driving in your car Oh, please dont drop me home Because its not my home, its their Home, and Im welcome no more
And if a double-decker bus Crashes into us To die by your side Is such a heavenly way to die And if a ten-ton truck Kills the both of us To die by your side Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine
LOL! Teen-angsty, indeed. Love the line about "it's not my home, it's their home, and I'm not welcome".
My favorite Smiths song is This Charming Man. The lyrics are pretty nonsensical, but I just love the melody. I don't find the bands you mentioned cheesy either, but growing up in the 80's means that I have a soft spot for a lot of 80's pop. It relates to a specific era in my life and though I wouldn't go back, I enjoy the memories from a nice distance now. :)
