I don't think I did this last year, but here goes:

1.  Post more on ST.  The exercise of taking photos always inspires me to look into the closet to see what else I have, or if something I already own would work in an outfit.

2.  Similarly, be a more mindful consumer.  And, admit when I don't need to consume - because I want to direct that money toward my travel/wine/going out to eat fund as opposed to my wardrobe.

3.  Avoid the weekend trap of just wearing jeans.  In the summer here, it's so hot and smoggy that wearing dresses makes perfect sense, so I wear all sorts of dresses and skirts.  But, winter here just leads to jeans all weekend.  I have some cute skirts that should be worn in the winter.  (Besides, I live in LA, so it doesn't get THAT cold here).

4.  Try a buying hiatus for a couple months.  I don't really think I need anything until about March.

From 2007:

1. Buy less and better quality. I'll BE asking myself: "Do I REALLY LOVE this?" I figure if I like it, or can work with it, and not LOVE it, then it'll just sit in my closet for months at a time. This goes for shoes & clothes.

2. Buy a NICE, more expensive handbag. I'd like to buy ONE nice handbag, that I can carry ALL YEAR, for at least $100.00; the most expensive purse I have is the one I'm carrying now, for $35.00 on sale, from JCP. All tho' I'm really NOT a hand bag person, per se, I'd still like a nice one for every day use.

3. Get rid of things that just don't work in my closet, things I brought, but don't like, or they don't fit me right, anymore (GO THRU MY ENTIRE WARDROBE!!). I KNOW I brought so many skirts/tops this past year, and some of them I've worn once, didn't like how they fit, so they have since left my closet. I brought things I 'thought' I liked when I brought them, but now - not so much. LOL I meant to do a closet sweet this past weekend, but eh - it didn't happen.....

4. TRY to buy shoes I really need. I tend to go buck wild w/shoes, esp. in the Spring & Summer, OPEN TOED season, but this coming year, I will got thru ALL OF MY SHOES, and try to work w/the ones I already have. *Notice I said TRY*......LOL Damn my shoe fetish.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wow----after reading this, I don't think I stuck to ANY of these for this year! LOL

1. I'm still buying things on sale, not necessarily poor quality, but still. I KNOW I can afford nicer things. And I'm still just buying things b/c they are CUTE, not b/c I love them. I was doing good there for a while, then slipped and fell....

2. NEVER DID get that nice handbag for about $100.00

3. I DID go thru my closet w/my niece, I just need to FINISH it up! I need to just 'let some things go'......Just de-clutter my closet with things I haven't worn in YEARS!!! My closets are SO FULL that I sometimes forget about things I have and like b/c I can't see them!! Pathetic I know. I'd like to SEE my actual wardobe........

4. My shoe fetish still exist, but I have slowed down a LOT on buying so many.... I've only brought maybe 3 prs. in the past 4 or 5 months. Yeah for me! LOL Never mind the fact that I still own over 200 prs. of shoes, and ONLY wear a few pairs year round. *sigh*

SO! For 2008:

1. Attempt to wear more of my wardrobe, I didn't just buy all these clothes, to let them just SIT in my closet.....

2. Buy what I need, unless I absolutely love it!!!! No more shopping just for the sake of shopping (I'm already slowing down on shopping).....

3. Tailor some clothing items that I already have; let it out, bring it in, whatever. LOL I need to start wearing my clothes!!! LOL

4. I might start going back to the beauty salon. I just hate she's scissor happy... I like my shoulder-length hair. I love the bob look, NOT SURE it'd look right on me.

1. Buy one really nice handbag
2. Only buy clothing items that I really, really want instead of making a whim purchase.

hmmm...
1. get out of the jeans and a t-shirt rut. which leads to....
2. i love the look of skirts and dresses and i have loads of them, but i normally only wear them on sundays to church. i resolve to wear them more often.
3. wear my jewelry more often. (i usually just wear my wedding set.) i always think, oh, i should save that for when i'm wearing something nice. and i need to buy more jewelry.
4. try posting an outfit or 2 on stylethread... eek! i'm kinda scared to do it, 'cause you girls are always so stylish! but i must! lol

that's probably enough for now... we'll see how i do! :)

I did pretty well on my '07 style resolutions. I wanted to buy more skirts and pants, buy a few more jackets, and buy a pair of plain black heels. I bought some skirts and some jackets, but no plain black heels, mainly because I don't think I need them.

For 2008, my resolutions are:

Buy a few more pairs of nice-fitting pants.
Buy a white button down shirt that fits really well.
Buy some more nice-looking casual clothes. I have very few casual clothes, especially sweaters, so I need to work on that. I generally either feel too dressed up or too sloppy on the weekends.

My style resolutions for 2008:
*Quality over quantity. The occasional Target purchase won't hurt me, but I'd like to start investing in things that will last a long time (I got a head start on this with the Chanel GST tote I got for Christmas).

*Go blonder! My hair is probably a medium blonde now, and every time I see someone with a really pretty light shade of blonde hair, I get jealous.

*Find a new hairstyle. I think I've had the same hair style for about 5 years now. It's a struggle though, because I have naturally curly hair, and there's not a whole lot of options for my hair type.

*Lose weight so that I feel better in my clothes (and my skin). Being healthy is always in style.

*Wear my contacts more often than I wear my glasses. I wore my glasses pretty much every single day this past semester, and I feel like it interferes with my look.

*Get my jeans hemmed! Average jeans are a tad too short on me (I am super anal about this; I HATE when my pants are too short), but longs are too long on me. I always buy longs and cuff them, but I'm starting to think that it looks just as bad as having pants that are too short.

*Switch up my accessories more. I have a lot of cute jewelry, but I always default to my diamond studs.

*Stop wearing (and buying!) so many t-shirts and start buying more feminine clothing.

*Donate ill-fitting, never worn, ugly clothing.

Whoa, I have quite a few resolutions. I'll have to take it in baby steps.

I'm goo lazy to go see if I did this last year.

For this year:

1. Limit the amount of cheapy stuff I buy. I don't want to cut it out completely, because it's fun to buy that stuff occasionally, but I seriously want to limit the amount of stuff from Target, Forever21, etc.

2. Try to make better use of the stuff I do have. Spend more time making outfits and trying things on in advance. If I wait until 8 in the morning and I have 20 minutes to get ready for work, I rarely ever put much effort in.

3. Try to buy more classic pieces and less trendy stuff. Basically, only things that actually flatter my body.

4. Buy more solids and less prints. I have enough prints to last me a life time.

I don't think I was around for this last year either.

1. Put more effort into grooming/beauty. I recently found an eyebrow waxer who I really like, so that's one hurdle. I haven't had a real hairstyle since college, and that should change. I've always been low maintenance but it's nice to feel like I'm treating myself occasionally. I'm sure DH would also appreciate it if I shaved my legs more than once every two weeks in the winter. And I'd like to bleach my teeth, but I'm already in debt to the dentist for $3200...

2. Get new black glasses. The last ones I bought were tortoise shell, and they're good, but I still wear my old black glasses much too often.

3. New underwear would be good. 'Nuff said.

4. I should pitch 6-8 pairs of shoes I no longer wear.

5. Needs: dark denim pencil skirt, light pink cardigan, gray cardigan.

I will buy more skirts.

I will not buy any more boots if the ones I ordered fit my calves.

I will continue to buy things I LOVE.

I will try to buy less blue and grey.

I will try to buy fewer basics.

Last year's resolutions.

  1. Wear earrings all the time.
  2. Findcomfortable flats and wedges (in any color but black) that I can wear to work and kick around in.
  3. Buy more jewelry...this one is hard because I get so overwhelmed when I look at jewlery and then I balk at the price tag if it's more than $20.
  4. Own the proper socks/hosiery for all my shoes.
  5. Buy more Spanx/Assets to hold everything in.
  6. Buy more patterned skirts, dresses, and tops.
I did well on 2, 3, and 6 but horribly on the others.

I'm pretty much sticking to the same resolutions this year, except for #1 because my hairstyle doesn't really allow for me to wear earrings often.

I broke one too. I bought two bras today. I needed a convertible one anyway, so I was going to let myself break the ban for that because it was thought-out and I also just returned two bras that didn't work out for me. But I had a coupon code and brastop.com has awesome prices anyway, so I caved and bought a purple one, too. I've been wanting a purple bra for a long time and haven't been able to find a pretty one in my size, so when I saw it, it was like I wasn't even in control of myself anymore! I bought it before I knew what I was doing. sigh.
