Me: xmas eve is SO's moms bday too, so we spend it w/his parents. We just relax, hang out, and order food.
xmas day - we have to house hop. First is SO's grama's house w/his mom's side of the family and then over to my aunt's house w/my mom's side.
I have to say I'm not very into the holiday spirit this year (being broke really affects that), but I am super excited for Simon's first Christmas! I can't wait to see him open his presents.
I'm soooo not into Christmas this year . My family situation is deep in the shitter, and I've not seen or spoken to them in 5 months or so - we won't be seeing them for the holiday either. Puts a damper on the spirit!
Mr. Elle has only Christmas day itself off next week, but my MIL has to work that day. Not sure when we'll be able to do gifts with them.
I think Mr. Elle and I are going to see a movie on Christmas Day since there won't really be anything else to do. We didn't even buy gifts for each other this year (we each went major clothes shopping instead)! After that we'll come home and fix a nice dinner.
Boooooring ....

DD has been talking about it all week, she's so excited to see her cousins and grandparents. christmas eve: big party @ my mom and dad's, it's a tradition, we open all the santa gifts then, and eat LOTS of treats and good food. there will probably be a houseful, but it's so fun! christmas day: not sure what we're doing in the morn, but dinner at my parents or sisters house, then church in the evening. i'm so excited! sending some christmas cheer your way, gals! :D have a great holiday season!

christmas eve - my paternal aunt is having a party for my dad's side of the family, we're all going to head over there and I am PUMPED that my cousins are back in town from college, etc.
I may go to midnight mass on Christmas Eve. If I don't, I'll go to 9:30 mass with my family on Christmas day, then go to my parents' house for brunch and presents. Early afternoon, we'll be going over to my maiden aunt's house for a party with that side of the family.

We had Christmas with one side of my family two weeks ago...so that one is out of the way (not that it wasn't fun....but 34 people in one home gets tiresome quick...especially when a 6 yr.old sets your bathroom on fire...yeah...my bathroom...fire...FUN!)
We kick of the rest of the season Saturday at my GP's house...Sunday BF and I are headed to OKC (about 4 hours away) for Christmas with his mom and sis...on Christmas Eve we're headed over to BF's Aunt's house...then back to my parents house on Christmas Morning/Afternoon...
-whew- i love Christmas...but this travelling stuff is not fun!

Today we're doing Christmas with the in-laws. Then Sunday we leave for Ohio to go to my mom's. Christmas eve will be filled with baking/watching movies/ordering pizza. And then Christmas day of course we open our presents and then the whole family comes to my mom's for dinner. I am soooo excited for Xzavier's first Christmas!!!! (And hopefully my LV awaits me in Ohio ).
we're seeing DH's family (extended) tomorrow (saturday). then doing Christmas ever here just the two of us. We have a tradtiton to make an amazing lasagna, so we'll do that and open gifts. maybe rent a movie or play games by the fire. Christmas day we'll go to my grandma's to see my side of the family for an early dinner.
Luckily we only live about an hour from out families, so they can all just be day trips!
I'm really not too excited for it this year either. Honeslty, I think I'd ratehr say screw everyone else and have the two of us just stay home the whole long weekend.
Our new boss decided we will be open on Xmas Eve (in mortgage), so I have to work until about 1 p.m. (company is open until 3 but I begged to leave earlier). I live in Kansas City and we are driving to St. Louis, so it is a 4 hour drive.
Xmas Eve (assuming we get there in time) is our annual event at my grandparents' country club for dinner and presents. Xmas day is presents at my mom's and dinner at my dad's. So we drive back that night (Christmas day) and go back to work the next day.
I literally have one day to go home, thanks to work!!
Christmas Eve: Work until 5:00 pm. Retail!!! Then my sister is coming and I am sooooo excited! I haven't seen her since summer. We'll probably go out for dinner and come home and do something. Then after my girls go to bed I have to play santa and put out their loot!
Christmas Day: Probably get up about 7:00 am to open gifts. We'll have an early dinner before my sister has to leave. Then I'll have to go to bed early because the next day I have to work at 6:00 am!
I am not too excited this year either. I wanted to go to Tennessee to see my family, but that didn't work out so I will be home. Christmas Eve will be fun though. We are having a party with my parents and lots of friends. Christmas day we usually have lunch at my mom's and then some of her friends come over and we exchange gifts. Then we always go and look at Christmas lights at night.
My parents are coming into town today to spend Christmas with us because I don't have any more vacation days and flying out to San Diego just wasn't an option for us. So it'll be us, my parents, BIL, and BIL's cat. We're making scallops on Monday night and on Tuesday morning, we'll wake up, have coffee and open presents, and then we're making a rib roast. I got the scallops and the rib roast at Costco, so I know they'll be good. I'm getting excited!!!
Then next Saturday is our 4 year anniversary, so we're ordering Chinese and having champagne at the house and for New Years, we'll have a low key grilled cheese party at our house with some friends.
Christmas Eve we go to my mom's house every year for dinner and presents. This is my favorite part of the holiday, watching my nieces and nephews open up presents is so much fun. Then we all ( minus my father) go to midnight mass)
christmas day I have Christmas at my house, my best friend and her DH come over as well as one of my closest friends come by. I cook a big roast, ravioli, scalloped potatoes, artichoke smothered in butter and pesto sauce crescent rolls and yummy chocolate pudding pie for desert! we stay in our pajamas all day and watch Christmas movies.

nothing. my family is in Hawaii & 1/2 of DH's is in California & the other 1/2 in Chicago. plus, DH is a chef so he's working both the eve & day since he had thanksgiving weekend off.
as a chef's wife, there's really no such thing as a holiday. and we're lucky enough to have one off together, the last thing he wants to do is cook.
My mother has been in Iowa working on a campaign for a month, so it's been a weird season for us too. She got home today, so she, my stepfather and I will be going to brunch at my uncle's country club tomorrow with the maternal side of the family.
Christmas Eve I will spend cleaning the house and doing some baking. Christmas Day, DH and I will be making a big breakfast just for mom, stepdad, and younger stepsister. Afterwards we'll open gifts and bliss out in front of a football game on TV or something. We'll have the usual drop-ins in the afternoon/evening - neighbors, some friends in town for the holiday, etc. - for drinks and snacks, and I'll make some pasta for dinner for whoever is still around, usually there's 8-12 people for dinner.
I've made it a priority over the last decade or so to create the kind of holiday I want, on my terms, without the BS that usually comes along with it. It's simpler for me because my husband's family is Jewish, so we do different holidays with them and they're not a factor around Christmas. We also have no children, by choice, and that makes it much more possible to keep our holidays the way we want them. I had enough of being shuffled around from house to house and family to family as a kid...now I end up enjoying the day immensely, since my rule has been, everyone who wants to see ME on Christmas has to come to MY house!
I went back home to where my family lives on Friday. Christmas Eve is special because it is low key with my parents and grandparents, but a lot of fun. We eat lots of good food and open up presents from each other. Christmas Day is a big party at my parents house. People come and go all day long. It is just a bunch of family and friend. First thing in the morning we open santa gifts though. That night my bf will stop by so we can exchange gifts too. This is our 4th Christmas together and the first time he will come to the Christmas Day party. =)

We spent the days before Christmas in Las Vegas doing some fun things. We traveled back on Christmas Eve. On Christmas day, we drove to Durham, NC for family lunch with SIL, her family, and MIL and SFIL. Later Christmas night, we went to a cocktail party our friends put on. They were not doing family stuff either and offered a respite (word choice?) from family get-togethers. That was cool. On the 26th, we drove to Taylorsville, NC for a fabulous, relaxed gourmet lunch that my husband's dad made. We got to see my husband's aunt, uncle, and cousins. Finally, we went to a sports bar for my friend's birthday. I got to see her family who I haven't seen in years.
For New Years, we will drive to the mountains for a night or two to hang out with friends at a rented mountain house.
A lot of busy-busy with very little holiday spirit.
