I fell IN LOVE with a pair of boots from Steven by Steve Madden in Loehmann's. They fit my calf perfectly and are such a great heel and classic toe, I will have them forever. They didn't have my size, however so I weeped and searched online with no luck.
I then found that they have my size at Filene's Basement but the boots are alot more money. Do you think I could buy any size at Loehmann's then return without a receipt to Filene's? Will they know what store it is from by scanning the barcode? I've never done such a thing.
Loehmann's would be $149 - 25% sale = 111.75 - $20 coupon = 91.75 Filenes is $149.
In case you're curious, the style is "P-Sense" I can't find it online anywhere!
I think the more honest thing to do would be to call Filenes and see if they will price match or if you can use your coupon there. I also think I might have a Filenes coupon in my email that I could send to you. I believe if you sign up on their mailing list you get one as well.
But to answer you question more specifically, yes the barcodes could be different. Sometimes the barcodes even have the store name on them so then it would be apparent.

I don't know Filene's store policy, but in most cases if they accepted returns without receipts, you'd probably get the lowest selling point price and in store credit. Not worth the trouble over $57, plus it's dishonest.
If you want to imply that I'm a liar/dishonest don't respond.
Thanks for the advice, I will try to call Filenes and see if they will accept my coupon. I don't know how they could price match though, because it was an item on sale but not in a circular...
So basically you want to exchange the boots for the right size at Filenes? I dont see why they would not let you do an even exchange, they are the same boots just a different size. Sometimes they wont even scan them they'll just take the wrong size back and give you the correct size.
It's not like you'd be wearing the boots and then trying to return them, right? Filene's would be able to resell those for the regular price after you bring them in. Not the most ideal way to go about something, but I don't see how this harms anyone or either store so .... why not?

So you want to return them to Filene's w/no receipt and get cash back? I have never heard of a store giving money back w/out a receipt.
No - she's buying a pair of boots at a less expensive place that doesn't have her size hoping to do a straight exchage at Filene's for her size with no money trading hands at Filene's at all.

After getting a surprise bonus in my paycheck, I decided to bite the bullet and just buy the boots from Filenes. With the 20% coupon they were still $50 more. Hope you guys are happy! BTW I love them and they were worth every penny. :)
