Good news! I heard from the doctor today and Duke is fine!!! They said the swollen lymph nodes were probably from an infection or cold he was fighting. He said since they are going down on their own I don't even need to put him on medication! No mention of the big C word at all! I am so relieved! After hearing the possibility of that word and our baby in the same sentence, it made me a wreck. I feel so much better now and just wanted to update everyone and thank you all so much for your well wishes and prayers!!!!!
Yesterday I noticed that Duke (our 9 month old great dane) had lumps in his throat. I took him to the vet this morning and he has swollen lymph nodes. They took a sample to get tested and the vet said it could either be an infection, an immune system thing, or cancer. Please pray and send good thoughts our way. He is our baby and I would be devastated if anything happened to him!!! Thanks so much!! We find out on Monday.
Oh no - Duke and you guys will be in my thoughts and prayers. I hope he's ok. Being a dog owner can be really scary - when something goes wrong it's terrifying. Please keep us posted.
I'll defiantly be praying for Duke, I know how important dogs can become to us. I know if anything happened to Cheese I'd be devastated. Please keep us updated as you hear anything!

Ditto. We had our pup into the vet something like 10 times in the first few months we had her - it just seemed like one weird thing after another! You're a good doggy mama for noticing and having him seen so quickly.
Sending good thoughts your way, hoping it's just a silly puppy-body thing. Let us know, 'kay?

I'm glad that he's ok. It's always a good idea to ocassionally inspect your dog. I think large dogs especially are prone to fat deposits. I've found some on my dog that I freaked out about, but the vet reassured me it was nothing. You're being a good doggie mommy!
I am so glad! I always feel silly when I take my dog in and it's no big deal, but it is great that you are so attentive to your dog. (The one time I figured something was "nothing," Halley had cancer.) YAY for Duke!
