I want to start cooking more at home, but I dont have a broad enough range of things that I can cook. Where are some good places to find recipes online?? Bonus if they have ratings or comments.
Epicurious.com is great for western food. For really wonderful Indian recipes you should check out an article I wrote for Rediff, India's largest news conglomerate, about Indian food bloggers. Here's the link: http://specials.rediff.com/news/2007/oct/04rsld1.htm
i love to go to foodnetwork.com, if you watch the shows that is even better b/c then you can just search your favorite chefs, but if not, it's still a lot of fun to seach and it is a very user-friendly site plus there are usually a ton of reviews for each recipe!! have fun!!
I second allrecipes.com. I love all the ratings/comments that each recipe has, and I like how you can search by ingredients, or select options like "show more like this recipe", and sort by popularity, etc. Great features, easy to use site.
I haven't used it since summer, but they have ratings and reviews. They also have a "recipe box" in which you can store recipes. Another great feature is the grocery list. For a recipe you want to make, just click the recipe button and you've got your list!
Well, being the health conscious girl that I am I simply cannot cook food that isn't good for you, and love using fresh ingredients. So, I pretty much exclusively use Cookinglight.com for my recipes. I did this on Thanksgiving and every single person raved about the food and had no idea the recipes were actually light and healthy (well, except desserts, are inherently unhealthy but how can they really be healthy? At least they were lighter).
I can give you a ton of great recipes if you want, or you can use their search engine to find recipes you are interested in trying and then narrow down your search to highest reviewed recipes.
I'm going to check that site out, Drew! :) I should point out that Epicurious also has a light section, where they do low fat meals, and I've used it a lot in the past. Many of their mainstream recipes are also healthy or you can just take a lot of the recommended oil and butter and leave it out- usually in the comments to the recipes there is someone who has done a light version of the recipe and posted the results, and it tends to work out perfectly nicely. Also, the Indian food bloggers that I was pointing out use lots of vegetables and a lot of their meals are quite healthy and unique. Since I've rock climbed for years, I'm very cognizant of fat content because gaining weight directly affects your climbing ability- you have to pull your body up the wall, after all :)
