My sister borrowed this bowl from my mother and broke it.  We think it was expensive, my mom had it for ages and used it a lot so my sister feels terrible and still hasn't worked up the nerve to tell her about it!

It doesn't seem that unusual but we're having a hard time finding a match. 
Has anyone seen anything similar?  Have any suggestions about where to look or keywords to try?

Is the bowl stamped anywhere so we might be able to retrieve a clue as to who made it originally?

Villeroy & Boch
Its not an exact match, but maybe the same company made both if you search for more Villeroy & Boch pieces.  This set is from Macy's.

I think my sister threw the pieces out but maybe I'll see if she can retrieve them.

So far I've found a few options which may work.  They aren't exact matches but are in the same general style as the broken one.  I really thought it would be easier to find!

I think my sis should just print out a picture of the bowl and go to a Michael C. Fina and a bunch of other stores.

I think this is one of those "antique" classics that was very big in a certain era (I'm guessing 50s-ish). Both my grandma and my mom had similar ones. Have you tried any thrifts or antique stores?

I don't know how expensive it's going to be, but maybe you can find a glass maker who can make something like that for you?

FOUND IT! it's vintage indiana glass (can also be found in "ruby" with a red fade from the bottom) - looks like it was orginally part of a chip/dip set (click on the pic for the listing) $9.95 +8.25 ship

WOW D!! Thank you so much!!  I can't believe how cheap it is.  I was telling my sis to just suck it up and buy something expensive.  We later remembered that my mom's really expensive bowl was a punch set that my father broke but still anticipated dropping a good chunk of change to replace this.

Awesome job D!!  And it wasn't until you found it that I realized that my mom has that exact chips/dip set in ruby!  The fade's more purple in real life but what a total coincidence!
