The H&G forum is a bit slow these days so I thought I'd add the new acquisition! This antique hand-carved Buddha is very dense granite. It's weathered nicely, having lived outside in a bamboo grove for some time. Its exact age unknown, probably mid 20th century. We don't know where its 'forever home' is yet, but it's fun to look at on the hearth, and being extremely heavy, it may stay there for a while.
Fun! And I think we're home dec twins again. First the granite (my kitchen) and now paint. Your's looks suspiciously close to my sewing/kid-playroom ;)

I've been calling it Breakfast Buddha because the cat's dish is also on the hearth (long story behind why the cat no longer eats in the kitchen). Since she eats her meals right next to him, and "Breakfast Buddha" has a nicer ring than "Dinner Buddha," that's currently his name.
What he really needs is to be accessorized. I'm thinking of a pretty mala in coral or turquoise like this:
And yes, I do feel spiritually bankrupt shopping for a mala that matches the rug and throw pillows...
