This happened to me when I went and saw the doctor last month. I've always considered myself to be pretty healthy. I went to the doctor to have my allergy medicine refilled, and the guy gave me a big lecture on all this stuff I should be doing. I left the place feeling overwhelmed, and just awful. I'll never go see that doctor again. If the doctor maybe told me in a nicer way, then I might not have felt like crap about myself.
I was just looking at your outfit posts and you look fine! It's really strange that your doc told you to lose weight even though your tests were all normal. Good luck finding a new doctor, your current one needs to get the boot.
The more I think about this, the weirder (and more awful) I think it is that she said anything. A study just came out last weekend that said that being as much as 25 pounds overweight is not likely to increase your chances of a life-threatening illness (or something to that effect). Anyway, I still think it's bullsh*t that she said anything.
Is it possible she really didn't have anything else to say or advise you about, and it was somewhat offhand? Like "sure, we could all stand to lose a few pounds, floss more often, and recycle?"
I have to agree that there's something in the air regarding doctors and weight. My mother's doctor told her the same thing recently. She's five foot three and about 125. Maybe they all got a memo.
Quite frankly, medical doctors know nothing about nutrition and diet, so I certainly wouldn't take any advice on that score from one.
