hey everyone, could anyone give me any advice on how to deal with oily skin? it's really only on my forehead but it gets greasy so quickly
at the moment, i use a clinique soap to cleanse, and i'm also trying a sample of clinique clarifying lotion before moisturising which only seems to help for an hour or so. i don't wear foundation or anything. i know that my fringe probably makes it a bit worse but i clip it back when i'm at home...
are there any products that are helpful for this? i have no clue about this stuff... preferably not too pricey as i'm a bit skint at the moment, but any suggestions would be appreciated!
I recall those Clinique products being a bit harsh, which might be causing more oil production.
I have an oily forehead too. Washing with a gentler product such as Origins Checks & Balances or Cetaphil and moisturizing with a medium-emolient moisturizer feels best.
I rarely use toner (many people say you don't have to use one unless you cleanse with Ponds Cold Creme or something).
Gently exfoliating once a week helps too. I will never be not oily on my forehead, but I feel that I can control it from getting too nasty with my typical skincare steps.
If you can't live without toner, try Aveda's Botanical Kinetics Mist. I like it because I'm not running a cotton ball across my skin. Just spritz on (doesn't fit your less expensive thing, but I consider it an extra).
I don't think I use anything right now that is advertised as oil-free. I used to, but I never liked the feeling of the products.
If you are looking for something to put on under your makeup, then you might want to try a mattifying product. In the summer sometimes I use a mark/Avon mattifying product and it works great. I'm not sure if they still sell it or not - it's been a couple years since I bought mine, but I'm sure another company makes something similar.
This is the only product I've tried. It works instantly at mattifying and controlling shine in my experience. It doesn't work all day as promised though, it's more like several hours which is not all that bad.
