Found a kitten last night
Permalink Closed

Last night it was pretty cold and rainy and when I got home from work, I heard meowing.  There was a kitten huddled up against the side of my house.  He's not scared of me, it's the exact opposite, he's very loving and wants to be in my lap.  I tried to bring him inside and stick him in a guest bedroom and just shut the door but my male cat got so worked up about it that he started spraying in the house.  My male is very aggresive towards other male cats and always has been, I just didn't know he'd be aggresive towards a kitten.  I put him back outside in a small doghouse that I have with a lectro-kennel heater in it.  He won't be cold but there are dogs roaming my neighborhood so the kitten isn't necessarily safe.  I've called every rescue org. that I can think of, even started calling vet's offices to see if they'd take him.  What should I do now?

It sounds like you are doing as much as you can.  The kitten is lucky to have wandered your way ;)

I know my local newspaper will put free "found" ads in the paper.

Did the rescue orgs not want to take him?

The rescue organizations are all full they said. The only place left to take him would be animal services but they will euthanize (sp?) after a certain amount of time so I don't want to do that. I placed the Found ad in the paper, if that doesn't work, I'll just do the "Kitten: free to a good home" ad. Anything is better than dying in the shelter.

I wish I could keep him!!!!!!!!!! My DH won't allow it.

Have you put an ad on craigslist for a free kitten? That may be a good place to find him a home! Good luck!

I looked on Craig's list and it said not to do the Free kitten ads because it attracts bad people to the animals :( Maybe I should take the kitten to the vet to get shots and stuff, then post an ad for the kitten for a small fee (to cover the vet's office). I wonder if that would weed the bad people out? Of course, then I may never get rid of the kitten!

that is so sad... i think it's great you're taking such good care of the kitten.  i hope you can find a decent person to care for him.

that's a great idea. See if the vet's office will let you advertise there.
